Okay, I wanna talk about what's by far one of the weirdest aspects of the Doctor Strange movie, from what we know so far: The director.

Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism Of Emily Rose) has gone on record saying he actually thinks this movie's too weird for Marvel. This begs the question: Why in the hell is Marvel getting a horror director to direct a movie like this? They're known primarily for relatively safe, formulaic action movies helmed by pussy-ass TV directors who don't fight back (looking directly at you, Joss.) Even when they get really good directors like Shane Black in, the primary concern's always sorta been fitting it into a universe, rather than letting the director do their own thing.
Only time I can think where this hasn't been the case and the director's had a ton of freedom is Guardians Of The Galaxy, which was actually really fun and had a sense that it was unique, didn't need to be connected to the MCU.
If that's the case here, two things seem really likely here:
1. Doctor Strange is gonna be really trippy as fuck and will feel like its own separate thing outside of the MCU
2. Dormammu's gonna look fucking INSANE.
This movie looks cheap and bland as fuck, like most of Marvels movies.
At least Snyder knows how to frame a shot and has his own artistic vision. Instead of the made-for-tv production values of Marvel movies.

Cumberpatch had mentioned last year rather loosely the movie was sort of like Disney's Fantasia as it was intentioned from the start to be a special effects experiment with a lot of soundtrack emphasis.
Very much looking forward to Dormammu. He's probably going to look like the most terrifying thing in cinema all year.

Thanos is a Darksied ripoff in every way possible, especially in that he doesn't fuck around when it comes to killing people. So if Thanos is just going to rip everyone a new asshole you have to have established characters that can go Back to the Future or whatever.
