To be fair, Hollywood studios buy a shitload of scripts every day and most of them end up in the trash bin or the movies fall apart before greenlit. Max is far from being a good example of a writer who sells a lot of shit that doesn't get made. There's tons of writers like him. Also tons of writers that do uncredited rewrites because at least that gives them some money.
