Rey actually is in danger throughout, she's just able to overcome that danger too quickly and without the necessary gauntlet protagonists should go through. She's in danger when the Stormtroopers chase her, when she gets shot at by tie fighters, when she gets kidnapped by Kylo Ren, when she gets knocked out by Kylo Ren, and when she's initially dominated by Kylo Ren in the lightsaber battle. I'll concede that she overcomes them fairly quickly, but my problem with the few seconds of Jyn in the Rogue One trailer isn't that she comes across as perfect, it's that she comes across as ludicrously artificial. Like a kid wearing his dad's shoes pretending to beat up bad guys. It's so laughably ridiculous, especially for someone who probably doesn't have Force powers.
Also, and it might be sexist to say, but the vast majority of women can't pull off cool. You have to be motherfucking prime Harrison Ford to be able to pull off something like "I rebel."

Like, recently I saw a movie set in 1920s London. There were several shots of a black man and a white woman walking as a couple in the street. It was there to sell us something. It was out of place and revisionist. It's tacky and it's condescending.
The objective is to shape public opinion with the assumption that everyone needs "educating" and are too dumb to pick up on the flagrant advertising of their agenda. In this case, it was a short throwaway scene and it still took me out of the movie. The message is basically, "You're too dumb to find the right opinions by yourself, so we're going to give you direction by placing propaganda in the media you consume."
SJW placement is dishonest and manipulative. Flagrant product placement annoys me whether it's a product I like or not. It takes me out of the ride that it should be, pauses everything to remind me what I'm supposed to think, and then expects me to jump back in with full enthusiasm.

JJ's pacing is fine, what you wanted was exposition. There are plenty of quieter scenes with Rey, and scenes that go on for much longer than they would in a typical film of this type.
