What're your thoughts on Supernatural, /tv/?
Always figured it was a bit of a bland normie show, used to watch it with my ex but that was just because we got close and we'd fuck every time, didn't get much from the show.
Started watching it recently and it's actually pretty fucking good. Genuinely funny, you actually learn a thing or two about mythology, religion, American history, interesting American people, the show is not your typical do-goodie primetime shit (they constantly catch eachother fucking browsing porn, the gore is fucking insane sometimes, so is the sadism), the characters are interesting as fuck (although Padalecki really likes to over-act sometimes, but I think it gets better in later seasons, I'm only at season 2 right now).
What's the consensus here?
I really enjoyed binge watching the first six seasons, but when they continued it after the natural ending point it just started to drag. It's still decent if there is nothing else to do, but in this day and age, when exactly is that?
I'm about eight episodes behind in the current season, in no real rush to catch up to be honest.

It should've ended where the writer intended it to end.
There were only supposed to be 5 seasons, and this is clear since all seasons past 5 are pretty shit.

It's interesting to both see Sam grow mature as a character, and Jared grow mature as an actor throughout the show.

Well before that. It was supposed to end with Sam taking down Lucifer into the Cage, and Dean getting a normal life. A strange reversal of what they expected/wanted, that in the end both accepted and made peace with. Castiel got to remain a good and effective Angel of the Lord, who was one of few to stay true to the mission.
It all... got a bit messy when things kept going. Now, it's basically (Traditional) World of Darkness-lite, with a focus on the Hunter and Demon supplements. I half wonder if the writers don't have a history of roleplaying.
It's not utter crap, still pretty fun to watch when I'm in the mood, and that's most likely because the cast still seems to genuinely enjoy what they are doing, but the budget isn't what it was and the writers are phoning it in at this point.
It's not a show that gets a lot of attention here, generally. Surprised we got this many replies.
