I'm trying to unpleb my girlfriend, she absolutely loved Daisies and Lost in Translation.
Anything /tv/ recomends me to watch with her?
Bump
if she's into Daisies she's pretty much ready to go.

Are there any other movies following a similar trend?
Not specifically czech new wave but anything with a similar theme?

just watch any 60's Godard. has the same kind of playful experimentation. I'd also recommend Arabian Nights by Miguel Gomes though it's very long (but easily divided into several days), the Before trilogy (based on Lost in Translation), All That Heaven Allows / Ali: Fear Eats the Soul.

Thanks dude, we're giving it a watch.

She will probably love some early godard, like Breathless, une femme est une femme and Pierrot le fou. And probably Chungking Express, in the mood for love and some Antonioni films like Lavventura and the red desert

That scene is probably my favourite piece of cinema, for many, many reasons.
You can dump her if she doesn't like Breathless.

Also give Valerie and her Week of Wonders a go if you liked Daises.

Valerie, Daisies and Alice (1988), then you can say you've seen three whole Czech films.

Marketa Lazarova for a fourth.

I definitely agree with Wong Kar Wai, but how is Antonioni remotely similar?
She would probably like The 400 blows, though it's not a female lead it's french and fully patrician

>Start a relationship
>"So what are your hobbies really?"
>"Oh you know, music and movies mostly"
>Watch some movies she wants me to watch
>Mostly boring young adult stuff with Ezra Miller or Michael Cera that I haven't seen
>Propose to watch Lost in Translation
>She doesn't know any actors by name or anything so carefully explain some basic stuff but keep it light
>Move up to harder stuff, even some directors I really don't like just to have her build her own taste
>She gets a cinema pass like mine so we can go to the movies more often
>We discuss the general theme of the movie and the plotdevices and the acting
>The more movies we go to the longer and better our after-movie discussions become
>Watch Daisies with her because of /tv/
>She's so in love with the movie she wants to watch it twice that same day
>She buys a crown made of flowers like in the movie while I'm helping a friend move his stuff
>Wants to watch more movies like it but I can't think of any movie like Daisies
Her other favourite movie is Vivre Sa Vie

Give me her number if things don't work out.

Cleo from 5 to 7

That looks adorable, defenitely giving that a try.

Seconding this.

>her other favorite movie is Vivre Sa Vie
Alright, I'm jealous. The only movies I was ever able to convince a girl to like that were made before 2000 were fucking John Hughes ones.
I had a girlfriend who loved Der Himmel über Berlin (Wings of desire) and a lot of sad films. She adored reading Proust and german poetry also.
>>68065203
>>68063905
Well, most of the themes of Lost in translation are directly borrowed from Antonioni's film (alienation, incommunication, loneliness, deppresion...).
Je, tu, il, elle

>her other favorite movie is vivre sa vie
>/tv/ collectively shits their pants with jealousy
I once dated a girl who loved Godard and movies like Daisies. She was batshit fucking insane. finally broke up with that crazy fucking cunt and my life is better for it.
be careful op, and this board obviously doesn't know what they'd be getting into if they really had this shit. not fucking worth it.
Českej shill? Věro?

Didn't know this was an /r9k/ meme

that I agree with. was confused because I thought you compared Godard/Daisies to Antonioni.

She's a lot more sane then my ex girlfriend who used to call me up every time I went out with my friends just to check I wasn't sleeping with something.
She's sweet and tender and actually cares about how I feel and what I like.
I also hit the jackpot when she suddenly started liking the movies I like.
