>>68045128Tony is a scumbag. He's just not a fucking immoral political pig like in the comics. That change works because. 1. Tony is massively narrow-minded and 2. Steve is super short-sighted. Both of them have the best of intentions and it's conflicting to call who's right and who's wrong, so the viewer is ultimately left to deal with the struggle or decide on who they personally want to favor.
Both Steve and Tony see how they were wrong, but the conflict never goes away because their intentions are still 100% valid.
The annoying thing to remember, there's two men named "Ross" in this movie, both of which are pretty much making Tony make stupid decisions that do sound logical on paper, but weird in practice. If anybody explains the movie, they will need to define which "Ross" they're referring to between Thunderbolt and Everrett.

The Politics Make the movie, but absolutely break the book because Stark goes full retard in the book. Say whatever you want, but nobody should have ever expected any kind of faithful 1:1 when the F4 and several characters aren't involved on the most basic level It would also be 12+ hours to resolve the entire thing if they wanted to be JJBA-levels of 1:1 faithful, which would be just plain dumb. The movie completely improves on the source material despite it's lacking the 50+ characters and the conclusion's impact is harder-hitting and farther-reaching than the comics delivered.
The trailers only give away 30 or 40% of what you can expect to get and it's easy as fuck to see why. They only wanted to advertise heroes vs heroes and the main reason why.
