Haven't seen Vikings.
Banshee is a no-frills action show. There are great characters and it's over the top in the best way. From time to time the crew does fun experiments. I love the show but others think it's stupid; I'd say give it a shot if you like exploitation/grindhouse stuff. It's consistently funny even if it takes a couple episodes to get going.
I go back and forth on The Americans. People who love it are always saying shit like it's the best TV show ever. It's a novel setting and worth watching even if it dips into cliched spy movie tension from time to time, and you will get attached to some of the characters.
The first season of Black Sails is basically Deadwood with pirates. It expands and gets more action-oriented after that, but it balances the subterfuge and Michael Bay action stuff well.
