c-can we discuss the office guys?

i miss it so much
>>
Actually today I was thinking about re-watching this show. It has been ages since the last time I watched an episode.

I remember that it kinda turns to shit the last couple of seasons
>>
>>68034653
it's actually not so bad when you binge watch the entire thing. the quality drop isn't that noticeable.
>>
>>68034653

First seasons are Micheal: The Show. It's great.
Last seasons are literally The Office. It's alright, but it's a different show that we're not used to, imo.
>>
>>68034697
this. its different but still has its moment. just the episodes with the focus on andy are unbearable.
binged it all 6 or 7 times. loved it. shame i know it all know and have to wait a few years before i can watch it again.
>>
GOODBYE TOBY

IT'S BEEN NICE

HOPE YOU FOUND YOUR

PARADIIIISE
>>
Jesus, I fucking watched the whole show with an ex girlfriend: we wouls binge all day long.
God, I miss her and The Office.
Now I can't even watch a movie without missong het presence. I mean, I know it is all and mind illusion and nothing really matters, but the feels get me everytiem.

Also, this show really "helped" out of a depression. Of course, binging on a tv show to the point where you thinl the characters are real and shit os no healthy.

I digress, but I have personal connection woth this show. I love how much everyone on it gave a fuck about it, the actors and writters. You could feel it.

yeah, lets discuss how pleb the US version is
>>
Just watched the benihana christmas last night again after taking a break from the office. the final bit with jim and michael is great, where jim is consoling michael after rebounding with the asian chick, and jim's lines are comforting michael, when the rebound he's alluding to is actually his rebound with karen and seeing how sad he made pam on refusing her christmas present. just realized that after watching the series for how many years now.
>>
>>68036636
U.S. Office is comfy. COMFY.
>>
I'm watching it again because of the recent threads. Dwight was just sitting on one of those exercise balls and Jim popped it with a pair of scissors. What an absolute cunt.

Always that one guy who brings up the British Office and compare the two.

Both are good and had great humor in the context of their respective cultures.

At a time when prime-time sitcoms were STILL using laugh-tracks, the American Office was quite a different and refreshing show, and the flavor and quality of humor is honestly unmatched in most other American shows.

How does Brian Baumgartner live his life after playing Kevin Malone? That has to be one of the most degrading things to do to yourself. Everyone will always see you as the retarded, bald, obese man you played on TV.

No other show will have as many qts. Meredith, Kelly and Phyllis get my dick harder than anyone else

I'll third this. Watching it all in one big go makes the later seasons tolerable. Even if they aren't great they're still decent tv with the same characters I loved from the great seasons
>>
>>68034653
Haven't watched it since 2013

Not sure if that's long enough to have forgotten all the jokes

finished binge watching it a few weeks ago, what are the chances they'd come back for another season? The cast seems to hold the show pretty high esteem
>>

Sorry Jenna, the show is over. John has moved on.
>>
>>68037453
another season would never happen. i'd be satisfied just with holiday specials.

I mean, I saw most of it when I was in high school (didn't watch most of the later seasons), so I guess I might have that same feeling.

I don't know. What do you feel? Is it nostalgia?

I'm not really nostalgic for high school. It wasn't that good for me - and I had much more fun in college. Yet, something felt simpler about the time - and maybe that could be compared to the simple, comfy routine of watching that block of shows on NBC (including the Office) every Thursday with my family.
>>
>>68034697
>it's actually not so bad when you binge watch the entire thing.
Yeah I watched it over the span of a month. The drop in quality was really noticeable when the weirdo boss replaced Andy with that British cunt. Other than that, it was okay for the most part.
>>
>>68034697
yea, those episodes with robert california where a fucking chore to watch when they aired weekly but binge watching it makes the episodes tolerable
>>
>>68037532
>I don't know. What do you feel? Is it nostalgia?

I liked it when I saw it and it was fun, but I really have no desire to watch it again or waste too much time thinking about it
>>
>>68037532
Not the same anon, but I liked my high school friends a lot more than my college friends. Everything else about college is many times better, but being around too many like-minded people isn't that interesting.
>>
>>68037577
I really liked Robert California the second time around. It's a shame the writers seemed to have no idea what to do with him though, he appeared in episodes at random
>>
>>68037370
>Meredith

I'd give her a pity fuck and thats about it.
>>
>>68036245
>>68036288
This is exactly why I don't watch The Office anymore ;_;
>>
>>68037567
In the middle of binge watching it today for the first time and i just passed that moment and am on the 2nd episode of the last season. Holy shit is she an insufferable cunt, and when Andy came back from the summer trip he just comes off as an asshole mostly now. I've heard how they butcher his character the last season but i didn't think itd be that bad.
Also Erin is best waifu material
>>
>>68037638
Thats a weird way to spell Karen.
>>
Reminder that Steve Carrel has not seen the show.
>>
>>68037629
A pity fuck is all I deserve too so we'd be set

>>68037638
Rumor is the writers purposefully shat on Andy to get back at Ed Helms for leaving the show 3 times to do Hangover movies. They had to write him in and out of the show yet again and said fuck it
>>
>>68037638
>and am on the 2nd episode of the last season
how the fuck
>>
currently watching it straight through for the first time, on season 6. dont think im going to go on past this season though, cause of the drop off.

Anyway, its an amazing show. im surprised they didnt draw out jim and pam not connecting longer. I think of Jim as having a crush on pam, but the reality is he was with her for most of the series.

Ryan should be wuphf, and Kevin should be an online poker site.

Kelly is also out of date there. Facebook is mostly for parents and older people now. The cool young kids moved on to go knows where once they realized their parents knew how to use facebook.

The show definitely wasn't the same after Michael left, but the bits with James Spader were so perfect

I could watch him ripping into Andy all day

>The cool young kids moved on to go knows where once they realized their parents knew how to use facebook.
It's splintered into Twitter and a variety of smartphone apps that probably all use the same login. Yet, not really "splintered," since they are always now using phones instead of computers, and in that environment, all the apps and their respective communities just blend together into one blob of SOCIAL MEDIA.
>>
>>68038036
>>68038017
Dwight isn't self-aware enough to be 4chan.

Dwight would have to be reddit, actually - especially for the fringe, radical, and/or highly-specific communities

Bullshit. The drop in quality in the last two seasons is VERY jarring. It feels like they fired the entire writing staff and replaced them with fans of the show. Still entertainment to be had, but let's not pretend it's even close to the level of the first few seasons.
>>
>Jim gave up his future with the sports company
So fucking stupid. Like holy shit.
>>
>>68038324
You can tell they got lazy early on because the first seasons involved scenes between few characters, in seasons 5-9 the majority of the scenes involve the bullpen area and everyone just says a line

HEY MR SCOTT
WHATCHA GONNA DO
WHATCHA GONNA DO MAKE OUR DREAMS COME TRUE
>>
>>68036636
UK > US
However
Scott > Brent

I'm Australian, so the UK style of comedy lines up better for me, but I must admit that Michael Scott was a better character for a boss than David Brent.
Michael was a much more fleshed out character; with some redeeming qualities that balanced out a lot of his nasty behaviour.

Brent though was just an arsehole. He was rude, arrogant and at many time, a bully.
A lot of people thought that this was revolutionary due to an unlikable protagonist, but I argue that Tim was really the main character of the UK office.
If you look at a lot of Gervais' work, you start to see that he tends to be a pivotal character in his shows, but not necessarily the focus.
>>

>>

>>
>>68037383
Nowhere near as bad.
>>
>>68040128
What redeeming qualities are you talking about? Michael Scott is a dipshit to the bone. He only cares about himself, and proves it so many times throughout the series.
>>
>>68034697
Of course it doesnt. Because bingewatching lets you consume it all st once and disregard all the bad parts.

People who watch it the proper way can see the drop.
