Andy Serkis' Jungle Book is closer to Kipling's book and was set to come out summer 2017, until Wonder Woman got moved up to June 3rd(?), 2017 and pushing Jungle Book to 2018.
Serkis came out and said that it gives him/them more time because they have so many ideas.
And Hollywood always makes two movies with essentially the same plot all the time.
