Disney plans on having more films with Jyn. They want to show what she was doing during the events of the original trilogy. Basically a side-quel to the ot.

Imagine being N4-PR in that scene and having to be all like "damn, Jyn Erso, you fuckin' fine, all rebellious with your tight body and horrific gungan monster face. I would totally have blaster shootout with you, both my character and the real me." when all he really wants to do is nap for another 16 years on his favourite bench. Not only having to tolerate her monstrous fucking visage but her rebellious attitude as everyone on empire tells her she's STILL GOT IT REBEL SCUM and DAMN, JYN ERSO FLIES LIKE *THAT*?? because they're not the ones who have to sit there and watch her Huttish fucking gremlin face contort into types of grimaces you didn't even know existed before that day. You've been fucking nothing but a healthy diet of Twilek-whores and younglings and later alleged rape victims for your ENTIRE CAREER coming straight out of the sandhuts in Naboo.
