Do you even care anymore?
>>
The Force Awakens is basically what we've been exposed too for the past decade and a half in pop culture sitcoms like How I Met Your Mother or Family Guy, all reminding us how awesome the original Star Wars trilogy is without delivering any new real content in case of scaring away old fans and alienating people, The Phantom Menace took risks and was bold in this regard, one of the reasons it is a better movie but also a disaster, a disaster but a fun one. The Force Awakens is a boring, dull exposition movie filled with the worst type of pop culture references we've seen so many times over and is a chore to watch because there is no heart or soul with it due to being nothing more than a cash in gimmick on the current flavour of the decade growing faux nerd culture trend. JJ Abrams is not a director, he is a business man who's only credibility in TFA is tacking on Han's death at the end so it wouldn't be as forgettable as it really is.

Only about the plinkett TFA review, then I'm done
>>
Yes, i'm not a contrarian faggot and I don't always agree with /tv/'s general opinion. Star Wars never was the kind of film that leaves you wondering about metaphysical shit after you've watch it and never will be.
>>
Honestly? No, the normies will turn on it eventually aswell.
>>
>>67969334
i dont give shit anymore honestly. Its probably that ive outgrown it and they are milking it hard.
>>
>>67969405
This. I give this fat jew the last chance to redeem himself and them i'm done with this shit.
>>
I am kind of allergic to it.
>>
>>67969349
This pretty much. They won't really change the tone lien casino royale successfully did to James Bond, so the only other option is to make unique plot elements or have an interesting new focus. New plot elements don't seem to be happening (Han solo, like sky walker, then going back to parallel Death Star story), and they'll never make it an adult movie. So to be original they'd have to do some kind of political focus vignette or something, but aren't willing to take a chance like that.

It's shit basically
>>
>>67969334
never did la
>>
>>67969624
I with you here pal. I don't care how normie Star Wars is, it makes me feel good inside when I watch it.
>>
>>67969334
No.
I never cared that much in the first place though.
>>
>>67969624
Did you forget about babbie's first philosophy lesson?
>"Luminous beings are we. Not this crude matter"
I thought about that shit all the time as a kid. It launched me into reading tons of eastern philosophy in my teen years.
>>
i still haven't seen the force awakens, and i don't really care enough to. when i was a kid i used to be a huge star wars fan. after i realized how shitty the prequels were, the constant ruining of video games like the old republic, and a desire to stop getting shit on for liking star wars i just lost interest completely.
>>
>>67969334
I don't like Star Wars for nostalgia, but for new characters and expanded universe
>>
>>67969349
>The Phantom Menace took risks and was bold in this regard,
The Phantom Menace had the exact same plot as A New Hope with younger versions of preexisting characters. When will the meme that it was original end? If TFA is guilty of self-plagiarism, then TPM is doubly so.

'star wars' was episod 4 to 5

that's it
>>

I hate how it fucks the catalog.
I also have a pirated copy of TFA but I am too bored to actually watch it.

>>

Only about Kylo Ren and the OT.
>>
>>67969334
>Do you even care anymore?

I saw the original trilogy when it came out. Caught 1 and 3 and I'm done. It's not a really cohesive, believable universe and the original intent to remake serial popcorn's been lost, also I'm 48 and I'd rather waste time watching anime than pew pew zoooom you were the chosen one TRAITOR FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED etc etc.

This is less about the content and more about being too old to care about the franchise any more.

> oh em gee what are you doing here grampa

There are older people than me here, don't think too much about it

Honestly, no. I never liked the prequels, nor the OT. But I at least took solace in thinking the games were good.

I recently replayed KotOR I & II (which I considered amazing as a kid) and found that they were pretty meh as well for the most part.

It might be that Star Wars is just a shit franchise. The only good thing about it is John Williams.

But these new movies are definitely the worst thing about it, for sure. I even like the prequels more. Awful as they were, at least they aimed higher. Disney is just generic and uninspired. Ep 7 wasn't a failure but it aimed super low and that's what we got - shiny shit.
>>
This is the Antman of Star Wars
>>
After TFA, it's hard to be interested.
>>
>>67970311
Darth maul was cool. The sets were down times interesting. Portman was hot. Pod racing scene was fun and actually put new technology special effects to decent use.

I'm not saying the movie was good, but I absolutely prefer it to TFA.

>2/3 of the threads in the catalog are about Rogue One

you are pathetic
>>
No. I haven't seen TFA and I don't plan on doing so in the near future.
I can not comprehend how the Star Wars franchise has gained such a ridiculous amount of fans.
>>
>>67970684
nice stat there

thats like when liberals try to imply most fire arm deaths aren't suicide
>>
>>67970684
2/3 of the threads are spammed by Disney's shills and the mods do nothing about it.
That's all there is to it.
>>

I never cared famalam. Star Wars just didn't appeal to me.
>>
>>67970344
I dont believe you.
>>
>>67970440
pretty much this.
>>
>>67970432
Yeah, I feel the same way. At one point I found a sense of escapism in the star wars films but now its more depressing than anything.
>>
When i was growing up in the 90s as a single digit i loved star wars and all the games.

Looking back the games where average-terrible and the only good ones came from the prequels in mid 2000's

Rewatched the OT and it was... meh i really didnt connect to it anymore.

I loved the space opera aspect but the light sabers where silly, dogfighting was good but everything else fell pretty flat.

1st movie was the most dissapointing 2nd and 3rd movies where better.

TFA was good in parts but was way too rushed and lacked any depth or development and now we get this cookie cutter shite?
>>
Not really. Watching the RO trailer just made me shrug. Plus all the forced diversity makes me sick. I've never even seen ep 4,5&6 so
I never really cared though.
>>
>>67970258
Yeah, this exactly. There was some heart in the original trilogy, they made jedi cool, wise space-monks. Liked that as a little guy.
>>
>>67971234
The x-wing series was terrible? Dark forces/jedi knight? Hell SotE on the 64 was damn solid. This smells of muh gwafficks to me....
>>

I didn't even know a trailer was released until I went on /tv/
>>
>>67969334
>Do you even care anymore?
Not really, star wars used to be something rare, now it's just like capeshit, trivial.

My fucking nigger.
>>
>>67969334
Yes but not the way Disney wants me to.

For the main series I'm in to see Luke and Leia (Lando too if he comes back) none of the new characters did anything for me because they add nothing to the story. Maybe they will but so far even Kylo is there to pull the older mains back in somehow.

I barely had interest in Rogue One when it was announced. The cast set photo dropped almost all my interest. Haven't watched the trailer yet.

The other stuff (shows, young Han and Yoda films) isn't even remotely interesting to me. There's nothing in those stories I need to see.

SW is at it's best when contributing to the overarching plot of the nature of the Force. Best thing TFA did was planting the idea that Luke's balance between light and dark is nearly impossible to teach.
>>
>>67969334

Honestly, not really.

But I'm over 30 now.

This, there's nothing appealing about going back and revisit character that have ran their course, just to milk more shekels out of the franchise, just let them be and create something new.

One day friends, I will usher in a new Era of science fiction. One where we return to our roots in the most spectacular of ways and after years of trials and tribulations I will finish what George Lucas started and what jj tried so desperately to destroy. I will bring back the patriarchy to the star wars universe. Enough with letting the women have their fun they've taken everything else but not star wars, not without a fight they won't.

I'm actually glad this is happening. Hopefully, hopefully people will understand after the Star Wars overload of the next few years, that the fantasy of getting something is always greater than actually getting it.

10 years from now people look back on this whole Star Wars era and say 'meh'. Maybe Hollywood will finally move on from the same franchises that have been dominating pop culture for half a century as people become bored of capeshit and star wars? Hopefully

I remember being pleasantly surprised with X-Men 1 (apparently touched up by McQuarrie with Hayter's involvement) but damn have these movies ever worn out their welcome!

I think Chris McQuarrie should be brought on to another SW project at some point, and not just for rewrites.
>>
>>67969334

Disney has killed SW for me.

George Lucas might've been a crazy hack but at least he made something original.

Not really. After the Disney's buyout, it became a piece of shit. TFA was stupid as all hell, Rebels' high points are underwhelming, and all SW games released under Disney so far are also shit
