How do you fuck up this badly? A Batman vs Superman, the two biggest icons in your property of franchises, two of the biggest icons in American pop culture, should do nothing but fucking print money.

And yet Zach Snyder succeeded. No, he wasn't alone. Producer meddling played a big role. But when you are Director, if you want to take responsibility for a films success, you must be ready to accept responsibility for its failures.

So how do you fuck up a Batman vs Superman movie? Well, take what should be a fun campy shlock film, and try to turn it into a grim dark, super serious movie.

Also try to shove in as many characters, and to establish a multi universe film series that marvel was able to successfully do 4 years ago; and try to do in two movies that Marvel did in 4.

And lets not talk about the horrible casting. The casting agent should be bared from Hollywood ever again. Amy Adams as Louis Lane? Mother fucking Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor?

Hopefully this will be the day cape movies jumped the shark, and give this shit arrest. Looks like video games needs their time in the box office next

They expected the same appeal as Nolan films. Honestly, the only mistake was having wonder woman. Batman and Superman are both lone wolf type characters. I haven't seen it, but Im guessing they come together by the power of wonder woman.

Anyways, having some really hot out of place strong female character lends itself poorly to the audiences that flocked to Nolan's films.

I think it was just simply not dark enough. The movie wanted to hit a sweet spot where it could get both audiences. But in their greed, they hit the middle of a bimodal distribution.

General audiences are slowly becoming the simpletons people used to joke about.

What's with whole critizism the movie get? I honestly throught it was great, too wide with many details, but first half went boring. The bomb and peach tea scene was an upgrade and it got slightly better from this to the very end. Well... Doomsday was a mistake, but the movie is not as bad as any other marvel flick that's for sure.

It was anti-imperialist movie with noticeable libertarian strike to it. This is in tune with Captain's characterization from comics: he will fight for old American ideals even if it means that he goes rogue against current expansionist American government.

Iron-Man, on the other hand, IS American exceptionalism movie complete with killing sandpeople in desert because Tony Stark can and wants to do it

Amy Adams is great as Lois.

Eisenberg was fantastic as this version of lex. He wasn't supposed to be like the cartoon version. If they were going for that then you would have a point.

The problem was it was overly complex. It's really that simple. Most comic book fans and superheroes movies really don't want to have to think too much. TDK was already pushing it and this movie you really had to pay attention to keep up (but was worth it if you didn't just switch your brain off).

I don't think it's "too smart" for people to understand or follow, it's just that people don't want to have to think during a superhero movie.

I mean, what's the point in pulling Excalibur parallels in a film that's audience want see or care about (even though some like myself enjoyed).
>>

And you wonder why no ones opinions have been swayed by your brilliant analyze.
>>

What's wrong with drooling after Superman's nice es?
>>
>>67968965
Like I said, it's how a lot of people try to genuinely critic the film.

It is funny as a joke, but it's baffling the amount who would say the same thing completely seriously.
>>
>>67968978
I mocked you. That's all I set out to do.
>U can't chaeng mah mind, Snyder 4eva
Yeah, pretty sure I already stated you're locked into a delusional state and no one can sway you. Hence, not trying to.
>>
>>67969096
>critic
Do you mean critique or criticise perhaps?
>>
>>67969108
I disliked 300, I haven't seen sucher punch and don't plan to. I went into BvS hating capeshit in general and was pleasantly surprised. Nice try with the whole delusional bullshit, I don't buy into this fanboy crap.
>I mocked you. That's all I set out to do.
You couldn't be any more pathetic if you tried.
>>
>>67969187
Yes
>>
>>67969226
>Went in to BvS hating capeshit, was pleasently surprised
Oh look, more of the same endlessly regurgitated apologist rhetoric... How does it feel to be a meme?
>>
It was good. Thor 2, Hulk and Batman 3 were way worse. I don't know why RT give them less rating, kek.
>>
>>67963373
>saying that any capeshit is art
End yourself
>>
>>67963682
Good chart.
>>
>>67963537
Oh wow, BvS did better than F4 and Wolverine. Such an accomplishment

Did it beat Deadpool yet on that note? What's that? No it hasn't yet?
>>
>>67966666
>The film scarcely beat IM3.
It actually hasn't beat IM3 yet

>no Bale
>Assfleck

I don't think anybody was willing to spend money on a non-Bale Batman tbqh, at least not when his first appearance is in a multi-hero money grab. They should have also did another stand alone Superman movie to test the waters and see if fans really wanted Balding man as Superman. Man of Steel may have done well, but I still don't think many people care for that cast or direction of that movie. So by throwing all these uncertainties into one move was a recipe for disaster, not to mention casting a one dimensional manlet as the main antagonist and ham fisting in a diversity character. Those cameos for Aqua man, the Flash (especially his time travel bit), and Cyborg (literally had to search him up to even know who the fuck he was, apparently the symbol used for him in the film isn't popular in the slightest either) were also forced af and felt out of place in the movie.

With all that being said, it still wasn't worse, or better, than any other capeshit movie. It failed for the casting choices and for the fact people don't really want to see Batman and Superman in the same movie; they don't pair well at all.
>>
>>67963655
They're actually united by a name.

>muh Martha
>muh flashbacks
>muh flip floppity resolve
>>
>>67970416
I never thought Bale was particularly good. Affleck brings a warmth to the role that was really missing in Bale's performance.
>>
>>67963660
This has happened a long time ago. Don't act like failing capeshit is where it beginning, people have been slowly degrading into simpletons since the dawn of the household television set. The fact that you think Batman v Superman failing at the box office is somehow proof of audiences becoming simpletons, just shows how far gone most of us already are. It's like people arguing over the best tasting frozen dinner.
>>
>>67970590
Did that post say
>started
anywhere?
>>
>>67970590
This. BvS is not a smart movie. In spite of all its supposed high mindedness, it still devolves into a big, loud CGI fest by the end.
>>
>>67964283
Another World could be interesting if done right.
>>
>>67963363
Saw it a couple days ago. It's just like any Marvel movie. Metropolis was miraculously rebuilt and ready to be re-destroyed in only a few years when that much destruction would take decades to repair. And it'll be back to status quo for next time when the Justice League needs a big city to wreck.
>>
>>67965498
More like, fanboy classic.
>>
>>67968323
Wait a sec, are you saying he's going to be resurrected? That there will be a second coming of Super Jesus?

THE MEMES! THEY'RE TAKING OVER!
>>
>>67968609
>nostalgia grab
>something parents can bring their kids too
>a made to entertain kids movie

Yeah, it will probably do really well. BvS made the mistake of neglecting kids.
>>
>>67970048
They seem to rate things based on expectations. BvS had higher expectations than those other films, except for Batman 3 (though its arguable which movie is better too), so they rated it harsher.
>>
>>67970488
Still doesn't change the fact that Bale would have put asses in the seats. Affleck isn't as well known, and nobody really saw/see him as an action hero type.

>Affleck brings a warmth to the role
I really don't see where the warmth comes from. He basically plays a douche bag with an inferiority complex the whole film.
>>
>>67971320
>Affleck isn't as well known

What the fuck? Affleck might not be as well liked, but he's definitely more famous
>>
>>67970654
>slowly becoming
>implies they aren't already there

But your correct I suppose, "started" wasn't there.
>>
>>67968918
>Was the best Lois we have ever gotten besides TAS in that she is not incompetent, not a bitch, not hysterical & not drooling over Superman 247.

You mean the exact opposite of Lois?
>>
>>67971363
I agree it's not a new thing by any means, but it's also not over yet. Rock bottom is still out there, waiting.
>>
>>67971386
None of that is a needed part of the character.
>>
>>67968975
She was Lois to a fucking T
>>
>>67971357
How? What roles has he done that would make him more famous than Bale to the masses?

Faggot
>>
>>67971516
I really don't see it getting much worse. I'm thinking we will stay in this current trend until a large collapse happens and people are forced to stop being electric cattle.
>>
>>67971755
He was the bomb in Phantoms.

Also Daredevil, Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, Gone Girl, the Jack Ryan one
>>
>>67971755
>>67971924

And the tabloids
>>
>>67971924
>Pearl Harbor, Armageddon
I'll grant those, but neither were lead roles for him. In Pearl Harbor he was second fiddle to Hartnett's character and in Armageddon he only supported Bruce Willis, who was by far the main lead. These movies are also far older than Bale's recent filmography with him starring in the lead role. Tbqh, most people probably remember Affleck best for being involved with woman that are too good for him. Maybe now that will extend to movies as well.
>>
>>67972245
The Town and Argo are also well known.
>>
>>67972450
>Argo
It's funny you bring that up. I feel like BvS is Affleck pretty much giving up on being involved in quality movies because the masses don't want quality, they want capeshit and senseless violence/action. Argo didn't do overly well, and he is probably depressed because of it, even more so when he saw how much hype BvS grabbed compared to his movie that was actually about an important historical event that people should know about.
>>
>>67972587
Pretty sure his deal with WB to play Batman included guaranteed funding for his choice of passion projects though.

>>
>>67965484

No.

Well, something can only become a cult classic after years have passed. We'll see kif people care about BvS 5, 10, 15, 20 years from now
>>

Jesus' parables were deeper than BvS

Batman v superman made more than that in around 2 weeks

It has a chance still, but it seems dark

I don't think you've ever read a Superman comic book.

Dark and gritty only really works with Batman.
>>
>>67963363
The movie is great.
>>
>>67963363
This just cements it as capekino that is too good for the public to understand.
>>
>>67977959
I love that so many people on /tv9k/ are embracing this as a "4chan movie" when it was directed by the biggest airhead of a Chad director working in Hollywood right now.
>>
>>67975048
Quick notes

1. It hasn't actually broken 1 billion yet. It's barely past 700mil right now.

2. It needs to make, at minimum, 800mil just to make it's money back, and maybe as high as 925mil depending on who you ask. 1 billion is about how much needs to hit just to start making a notable profit.

>>
>>67963363
Saw it a couple nights ago.

Cavill is still bland and boring as Superman. How can he be expected to emote when he's struggling to maintain his generic American accent?

I love Amy Adams but she was already to old for the role in MoS

Affleck's Batman is great and the movie really picked up steam when he was on-screen

Gadot turned out to be a really good choice and I'm now looking forward to her solo movie

Eisenberg is hit and miss as Lex but I mostly liked this new interpretation of the character
>>
>>67963694
They weren't in the movie, dum dum.

>>67977868
The thing that sucks the most is that not doing it right, right now when cape shit is at its prime, is that another shot at it will have even less chance to succeed. The trend will likely end by the time a reboot is brought around, and now it has the task of shaking the stigma bvs brought on.
