So far it is a lot better. The ending on both season 1 and 2 have been great, with a lot less filler than clone wars. It almost has an empire strikes back/OT feel to some episodes.

SWR it's clearly inspired to the original concept artworks for the OT. That's why the pointy lightsabers and kind of sticky laser bolt animation.
Also Chopper was supposed to be R2D2 and Zeb Chewbacca.
