why is it that is practically every episode of star trek whenever the hardware they have abord isnt good enough they just go and change something and it magically works? if it was so easy why wasnt this modification done by the manufacturer?
>>
When are they going to make a new star trek. Ds9 voyager TNG , they all seem too old. The tech seems old. We need something even more in the future.

Warp drive seems obsolete.

Another data should be totaly possible by now.

Holograms could be tge bew robots

Idk.
>>
The same reason they designed the ship so that an entertainment program can hijack the central control systems, or that interface panels can blow up in crewmen's faces: plot device.

Because Star Trek is supposed to be The Twilight Zone with a recurring cast, you fucking DS9 pleb.

>why do all the aliens look like humans wit scrunched up faces?
Because ancient aliens made all the modern aliens have similar DNA.

>why are all the planets they visit have the exact gravity and atmosphere as earth?
Because they avoid the planets that have different gravities and atmospheres.

>why do all the planets have the same veggitation as earth?
Shhhhhhhhhh.

>why does every species speak english
A piece of technology called The Universal Translator.

>how does the holodeck work?
Force fields, light projections, and the floor is an omni-directional treadmill.
>>
>>67959641
literally die hard the episode
>>
>>67959713
>the floor is an omni-directional treadmill.
but what about when there are multiple people in it? how can they be far apart? basically its just magic

The inner light
>>
why do they never get the urge to hold down beverley and rape her tight cunt?
>>
>>67959758
The treadmill lets the room feel larger than it really is.

Person A can walk 200 feet away from Person B, but A will still be standing only 20 feet away from B.

The illusion of distance is then supported by projected light screens (A sees a projection of B from a distance of 200 feet, and vice versa) and sound distortion (to make B sound distant to A, and A sound distant to B).
>>
>>67959758
It can make people/things seem further away than they are.

couldnt you beat the treadmills by jumping forward really fast and reach person be unrealistically fast? what if you brought a real object in and threw it 20 feet? would it hit the person who is supposed to be 400 feet away?
>>
>>67959453
DS9: In The Pale Moonlight
>>
>>67959997
also couldnt you do the same thing to reach the door of the holodeck without haveing the computer do it? doesnt this solve all the episodes where people are trapped in the holodeck?
>>
>>67959997
>couldnt you beat the treadmills by jumping forward really fast and reach person be unrealistically fast?
No. The computer is tracking you.

>what if you brought a real object in and threw it 20 feet? would it hit the person who is supposed to be 400 feet away?
The computer catches the object in a force field and holds it for later.

The computer also throws up a light projection showing an approximation of what the object would look like if it really had continued for 20 feet.

If you walk "20 feet" over to where the "object" "landed" then the computer hands the real object back to you.
>>
>>67960030
>>67959997
aren't you forgetting about the forcefields? You could easily be held in place, while projections make you think you are moving forward
>>
>>67959997 see >>67960108
The "treadmill" is a variable tractor beam. See "Stars Above Us, Stars Below" from DS9, "The Champion" from TNG, and "The Moment of Action" from TOS.

Very good, but the framing device of sisko making a log while staring into the camera is weak.
>>
>>67960108
>>couldnt you beat the treadmills by jumping forward really fast and reach person be unrealistically fast?
>No. The computer is tracking you.
Actually, let me clarify this:

The computer can point you in the wrong direction.

A thinks that they're jumping towards B, but A is actually jumping towards the empty space to the left of B.
