What's next for horror?
We had serial killers, aliens, monsters, demons, ghosts, and what have you. Right now we're going through the insufferable ghost and Exorcist clones phase. What will be horror's new breath of air?

There's a movie like that called The Signal (2007), it's weird as hell because it's filmed in three different acts by three different directors so the tone is all over the place.
That bit at the end where he turns his gf around to see her, fuck man that was gross.

Just without the edge.
Subtlety would be the key. The slow turn of humanity's plunge into the dark.
It's not really the subject that makes something great, but it's how you spin it. Even with the ones we've been familiar with for so long, giving a good idea on them can make it a really good horror movie

Wrong.
It's going to be Nether dimensions.
post-ironic Evil Dead-style body horror dark comedies.
More horror based on creepypasta and internet myths. I expect a higher budget Slenderman movie soon.

This is what I hope for, but I don't think it will ever be done properly.
The problem with the horror genre is it requires subtlety to make a good movie, and usually that's the first thing to be thrown away. If the Beetlejuice sequel is even half-decent, it'll spark more attempts at comedy horror. I could also see realistic horror (Se7en, Silence of the Lambs, etc.) making a comeback.

Wes Craven must me rolling in his grave by now
I want more slashers or recurring monsters.
There's a reason guys like Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees and even that dude from Silent Night Deadly Night 2 remain so endearingly popular. There's just something about slasher villains, particularly if they have a slight supernatural element to them.
>Rob Zombie will never make another fun movie

seriously?

A lot as a child. Jaws is the only nightmare inducing, real fear of water one I recall. Movies shouldn't scare you as an adult. You are an adult yes?
