That's not exactly correct but you have the right idea. Square rectangle: a quip isn't a highly quotable line, it is a bit more than that. Quips in this context are also a lowest-common-denominator humor aspect that makes the quip more viral. You don't come onto /tv/ and post the McDonalds slogan because its not an in-crowd funny thing to do which will gain you social standing in media. But you do recognize it, and for McDonalds, that's enough. But for media like this, it has to propogate. Baseline humor is the easiest way to get the average roodittor feeling like something understood him, when in reality something was just pandering to him. Here we are. Quips will be quotable, but thats only a piece of what makes them quips. They also have to ave that layman's humor aspect.
