It's worse than that. Chuck sets himself up as being morally superior to Jimmy, but at the end of the day he'd rather see his brother fail than be fair to him, no matter how hard he justifies it to himself and others that he's only doing it out of reasonable concern.

So many characters are set in their ways on tv, but not Kim. She's both realistic and relatable, and a good straight girl foil to Jimmy, something he and the audience are likely to miss when taken away from him.

When on earth have you heard "that's not a realistic portrayal of a man"? Because there are no Saul Goodmans. He's the Manic Pixie Dream Girl minus the looks, but a man. There's no Mike in real life either. In fact a stunning percentage of all male portrayals on TV are found only as myth.
But then it's not a problem, naturally.

He infiltrated Tuco's gang and is observing his dealings, hoping to get evidence on bigger players than Tuco, like Hector for example. He bought drugs from the old guy to see if he's related to any big fish, and has possibly gotten him jailed already, perhaps his intention was to steal the cards after seeing what a rookie he was so he could incriminate himself. IIRC he didn't actively encourage Tuco to act violent and might've intervened if it wasn't for Jimmy. He can't act too pussy if he wants to stay believable.
I'm not sure why but I just get the hunch that there's more to him than a criminal turning against his boss behind his back.
