Ah yes, Stewart Lee and his "comedy"

>>
I like him but this series seems to have taken the recycling of material to huge proportions. Some of his bits have been word for word from previous shows. I know he always does the "parts of the audience can't keep up" thing but it seems really forced and regurgitated this time round.

I went to his show last year where he was working on the routines for this series, and it was 10x funnier then. No idea what the fuck he is doing the last 2 episodes

I know he likes to play up to the criticism he receives. But holy shit he's become so self indulgent lately

Half way through the last episode I really wanted him to just do some proper Stew Lee stand up and quit it with deconstructing the act and talking to the camera. Like, I have loved that stuff in the past, and some of the repetitive routines (Zavvi, rap singers) are fucking legendary, but my kingdom for ten uninterrupted minutes of actual material.

stew made me laugh more than any stand up comedian i have ever seen, but he is going to way too far in the wrong direction

when you deconstruct the joke too much, it turns out, its not funny anymore, what a surprise

>You were sad at the end of a stand-up show?
>Wasn't a very good show then, was it
>>
>>67861861
The really irritating thing about Stew recycling material is that he surely realises that probably 98% of his audience are die hards who know his entire catalogue pretty much off by heart. You get all keyed up for a new episode and then he wheels out the Napalm Death bit and you're like ohferfucksake!
>>
>>67865361

While I do like most of the work that Stewart has put out in the last 5-10 years I do miss his early 90's stand-up. Certainly it was a lot more accessible, arguably more derivative but good none the less.

I wish he'd mix the sort of stand-up he produced in the 90's with what he's become known for recently. He could even snidely work it into his routines for TV specials with "Ah, here's one that the audience at home will surely understand!"
>>
>>67864936
Fucking this. The episode in season 2 where he talks about being a librarian and toasters is him at his absolute peak imho.

All the series of Comedy Vehicle contain material from his stand-ups shows. If anything, he seems to be twisting the recycled material in series 4 more than he has done in the past. The anti-Islamic standup routine was almost unrecognizable from Carpet Remnant World.

>>
>>67866072

This, he's working his old material into the context of the programme and adding the odd new bit to it.

Go see an improv group if the idea of a comedian reusing their material seems strange to you.
>>
>>67866240
Eh, the "anti-Islamic observational comedy" bit was funnier in Carpet Remnant World because he had the time to let the anticipation build. The parts that actually involve speaking were improved in Comedy Vehicle, in my opinion.
>>
>>67866115
I know this guy; not well, but I can confirm that he is a dick.

>>67866153
Agreed. He peaked in 'If you prefer a milder comedian...', I've watched it so many times
>>
>>67866153
I think this might be the root of the problem with his current comedy vehicle set. Every time he did the "audience can see predict the punchline" he made a slight pause for the audience to react and laugh prematurely, in which lies the joke. In this set he already assumed it would happen. In his other stand-ups he worked better with the audience, in some cases, they would not see the punchline coming, and he would just move on with the joke. Stew was just out of it.
>>
I'd like to vote Conservative now though and I'll tell you why, because when I met my wife 10 years ago, I wasn't really earning enough to pay tax, but I am now and so I'd like to vote Conservative so I can pay less, or no tax ideally, I don't think I should have to pay any tax at all. went for a meal at an Indian restaurant with some friends - well acquaintances that I knew through work - not necessarily people I liked or disliked if anything I was indifferent to them.
Anyway they were all talking about the TV they watched - Xfactor, big brother, I'm a celebrity etc. I didn't really contribute anything to the conversation as these programs didn't really interest me. Someone noticed this and said, `So, Ian, what do you watch on TV' - trying to include me in the conversation.
I said, `Well I watch documentaries and a bit of comedy - I particularly like Stewart Lee at the moment - from Stewart Lees Comedy Vehicle.' As soon as I'd finished speaking there was no reaction - nothing - complete silence. They stared at me with blank faces - a slight breeze blew an onion bhaji across the table... the tension was unbearable.
Anyway, eventually someone did break the silence and said something like - who do you think will win Xfactor and they carried on.
Anyway it's sufficed to say that I wasn't invited out socially with that group of people again.

That's what I like most about Stewart Lee - not only is he able to refine his own audience but he can simultaneously refine my own friend base as well. Thanks Stew!!!

In 1994, a few of my friends decided to take two weeks off for a north pole expedition, and asked me to come along.
I hesitantly accepted.
It went well at first, but as we crossed into the arctic circle, a massive snowstorm suddenly shifted course and headed straight for us. We were lost in it for four days.
Bill and Steve fell through the ice. By the end of that week, there were only three of us left.
I thought that would be it.
But just as we were about to exhaust our last rations, an old Inuit man saved us.
He said he'd heard from another villager that we were lost out there, and although we were foreigners, he couldn't leave us to die.
I couldn't pronounce his name, so I didn't know how I'd find him again.
"How can we ever repay you?" we asked. He simply said, "Remember my face."

And I did.

He's let himself go.

This post is one of the most pitiful posts I've ever seen. Made by a cowardly anon trapped between two different forms of cowardice. And I hate him for this post. I want to kill him. I wish he'd kill himself. I wish he'd tried to shoot himself, and survived, losing all control over his bodily functions.

Because that's funny, on 4chan, telling people to kill themselves.

Then I wish no one found anon, so he dies a slow painful death in his dead parents basement, and with just enough sentience left to be fully ashamed for his past actions and then die.

Not really.

I don't really think this.

What I was doing here, as everyone here in this thread now understands, just in case their is anyone browsing this site from tumblr or weddits, is I was using an exaggerated form of the rhetoric and the implied values of 4chan, to satirize the rhetoric and implied values of 4chan, and it is a shame to break shitpost and explain this, but hopefully it will save you a long exchange of shitposts and reports.
