This. But DC is shitting themselves right now because Marvel started its world building a decade ago, has been building it up, and is making huge dollars with each release. DC wants to catch up, but knows that by the time they have a fully fleshed out universe within a series of at least three essential movies (Superman, Batman, and Wonderwoman obviously) the capeshit financial bubble will be likely winding down (to be replaced by the videogame bubble -- it is inevitable) and their target audiences wont be interested. That's why they are scraping together the Justice League shit which everybody knows is their desperate "we're relevant too" wail for attention.
But its hard to feel bad for them when they hired Zack fucking Snyder to be the director of such an essential capeshit movie. Snyder has made at best above average, and on more often than not, awful movies. 300 was okay, but that can be chalked up to it being an okay comic book. Watchmen the theattrical and extended cut were okay and good respectively, but the ultimate cut was a fucking mess. Sucker Punch, Snyder's first memorable example of original work was garbage. The owl movie was pretty fucking retarded too.
Why a studio desperate to stand as competition to the Marvel powerhouse is putting their faith in Snyder for all of their key movies is beyond me. Snyder is about as much of a visionary as Michael Bay, and only a shavings more respectable as an artist. But this is the time when comic book movies are in, and this DC empire has built their success on someone who makes a better visual designer and visual consultant then director.
