Let's face it. Jim Carrey is a capable and versatile actor. If they got him to reboot the joker I think people would watch it. He'd just be an older version of the riddler. Sadly it's already been announced that affleck is writing the solo batman movie and it will definitely involve leto's joker. Whether or not he's the main villain who knows, but probably.
Ivy, Riddler, or Freeze would make pretty cool and interesting villains, but most movies need a crazy action scene at the end and none of those villains are a physical threat so you'd have to be creative with something. Whereas someone like Deathstroke would not only be a cool and interesting villain, but he is also a physical threat and on par, if not superior to batman, so you could have a great 1 on 1 fight scene at the end.
