Idiot. Supernatural is now high art wherein the show continues to live despite our wish to let it die a noble and final death, this mirrors the turmoil the brothers experience each time they are resurrected and not allowed to die a peaceful and meaningful death.
The viewers sense of drudgery and feeling like they're just going through the motions is meant to mimic the how the brothers now feel after so many years on the job.
