Not necessary as a sequel to the first one but necessary to Reloaded. And Reloaded wasn't a necessary sequel but it's extremely underrated.

The Matrix's action was videogame-tier. There's absolutely no weight or fun to it and it relies entirely on the slow-mo gimmick to set it aside. I'll never fucking understand how people actually thought, or think, it had good action scenes.

The Matrix is a great original IP that had appeal to all types of audiences.

Reloaded was an extremely adequate science fiction movie but was a failure as a Matrix movie.

I've agreed with like half the choices made in this thread.
>Everything the Fury Road set out to do, mechanically and technically, was handled very very well.
I'd agree that it has great stunt work and decent production design. It also has great performances and avoids expositional dialogue for its first half. The filmmaking however fails these aspects, and much of its rather simplistic action is muddled by poor editing, and a failure to obey the 180. By the end I was bored.
>>
>>67643938
>I love how it's a given that Fury Road is some kind of action masterpiece. I mean, it's not as bad as Nolan, but it's borderline incompetent visually.

>Well, you know, George [Miller] is, he's big on this, so the audience can understand spatially what's happening and you know, where your eye is, where exactly you want the audience to look.

>We tried as far as we possibly could to help the audience understand exactly what was going on, but ultimately, there was a very strong logic behind a lot of those stunts. So if you cut meticulously that logic was, it was there, you know, it had been thought through already by a whole bunch of other people.

That channel is like film 101. It's not that comprehensive, and the guy seems more articulate than he is knowledgable.
>Why dont you enlighten us whith your great knowledge to why Fury Road is so shoddily put together.
Poorly edited, breaks the 180, and has rather simplistic set ups. It's not in the league of greatest action films ever made.
>>67644946
Okay? The stunts were great, as I said. The filmmaking however wasn't up to scruff to lend it justice. Which is why I said Mad Max excels at spectacle, but as an action film its lacking.

If you like Kung Fu Hustle that much check out Bunraku. By no means perfect, or even close to it, but:

it has a fun cast, it's really creative visually, and it has some awesome fight scenes.

I like Heat, but the final shootout in Miami Vice has a very clear spatial sense, with both sides' positions clearly defined.

Time for a nostalgia fap. Maybe I'll finish it off with Voice of Submission and Secret Plot

There's a Chinese action film that I saw when I was a wee-little-shit that's kinda similar to The Raid Redemption. Police are trying to infiltrate the building. One of the scenes was one of the "bad guys" helping the little Chinese kid with her homework. Eventually they send out some hostages outside with grenades strapped to them trying to cover their tracks. Then SWAT teams come in and finish everything. One of the scenes towards the end is in an elevator shaft with a dialogue between the good cop and the rogue bad guy. The good cop at the end drops the last bad guy and the movie ends. Does anyone have a clue what movie I'm talking about?

Rumble in the Bronx is one of Jackie's worst imo. Sure, it introduced him to American audiences, but there just isn't enough fighting and no memorable action scenes aside from the hover boat thing.

The Matrix movies have some of the best action scenes ever put on film.
>>
>>67642980
Both those movies are meme-tier. They're on par with Spiderman 3.

As in, they're fucking hilariously entertaining

>>67643429
The shaky cam can be annoying, but they have great moments from what I remember. The car chase in the 2nd movie is one of the best imo, and the knife fight in the 1st is good.

>>67644492
>no fearless.

That movie has fantastic choreography, music, story, and acting, I'd say. Its one of my favorites. I find crouching tiger too pretentious and artsy.
