Let's settle this once and for all.
I-II-III-IV-V-VI-VII ?
IV-V-VI-I-II-III-VII ?
IV-V-I-II-III-VI-VII ?
IV-V-II-III-VI-VII ?
I'm currently hesitating between the last two.

You should probably like VII more as you're clearly not a fan of original content.
Or you can just watch something better like Stargate
>>67593642
what
>>67593546
The problem is, is that I loathe episode II.
I like the other films, but despite the fact that II had based Jango, Classy Dooku, and Mace Mother fucking Windu, it doesn't stop it from being a slug fest of badly written romance.
The action scenes throughout the prequels are pretty mint, though.
Just my opinion.
>le prequels aren't utter shit maymay
>>67593546
IV-V-VI-VII
that's it
>>67593732
Yeah but you can't skip II like you can I, that would make III utterly confusing.
>>67593546
V - IV - VI - VII - III - I - II
This is correct. Mods pls sticky.
>>67593841
>starting the saga on echo base
>just hearing names you don't recognize
>characters running around, no clear protagonist
wew
It doesn't matter what the franchise is, the correct viewing order is always chronological by release date.
The last two are best.
That cliffhanger after Darth Vader says he's Luke's father, and then for the next two or three films it only gets slowly and then definitely confirmed when Padme gives birth, but then that sudden twist where Leia is his twin.
Chronological order ruins all the twists.
>its a "I like the prequels" meme thread
IV-V-VI
Any other response is memeing.
If you've never seen them before, but you still know Vader is Lukes dad, (which is the exact case for 99% of people to whom the watch-order even makes a difference). Then watch them in order, as Lucas intended:
I-II-III-IV-V-VI-VII
That way you there's more suspense in the prequels cause you don't know the outcome of every fight, AND you don't even know that Anakin is gonna become Darth Vader.
Newcomers should deffo deffo watch in chrono order .

my. fucking. sides.
>>67593982
Anakin becoming Darth Vader isn't much of a twist when you haven't even seen Darth Vader before.
Chrono ruins all the twists. It also makes the story about Anakin instead of Luke, and that story isn't told very well in the prequels, if you start watching there you never feel like you have any reason to care.
>>67594061
Who hasn't seen Darth Vader? If you know Vader is Luke's dad, then you must know that Darth Vader exists u plonk
The OT feels wayyyy way better after just watching the prequels, especially if u watch Clone Wars inbetween II & III as well. Don't knock it til you try it, everything just feels more real, and you feel all the history and changes that returning characters have been through ygm?
>>67594211
>Who hasn't seen Darth Vader?
Girls, niggers, and young children probably.
>>67594350
senpai c'mon he's bigger than Mickey Mouse
>>67593904
This. A lot of scenes in the prequels--indeed, their entire premise--carry more weight if you've seen the originals. They do, to some extent, presuppose that the audience is familiar with them.
>>67593546
Watch the original trilogy and then watch Space Balls.
I - I - II - III - V
Can't wait for episode VIII
>>67594211
>The OT feels wayyyy way better after just watching the prequels
I don't see how.
>>67594435
But that still works with the Machete order. Everything you need in the OT is established in IV and V, then you have the prequel after the cliffhanger, and then the best conclusion in VI.
>>67593546
4-5-6
read wiki summaries on the rest.
>>67593546
Chronological release always.
IV V VI I II III VII
Have you considered not watching any of it?
I-IV-V-VI-VII
>>67593963
How about
IV-V-VI-III
That's what I do tbohph
4 then 5 then stop.
IV
Everything else is shit.
>>67593546
IV - V - I (optional) - II - III - VI - VII
>>67596403
>optional
But which is best, with or without?
>>67596591
I dunno. On one hand episode II already reminds you of some things that happened in TPM. And you don't have to deal with:
>Jar Jar antics
>Force rush
>Too much political discussion (if I don't remember bad it was more present in Episode I than II)
On the other hand you would miss:
>Droid army (specially vanilla battledroids) best moments.
>Darth Maul
>>67593814
I agree, 1, 2 and 3 just have no value except as a lesson on how not to make movies. They add nothing to the enjoyment or quality to 4, 5 and 6 which are good movies.
>>67596774
I don't mind I, it's more about the rhythm. Including I might make the prequel a bit long-winded, and make the OT story less fresh in your mind when it picks up again. Also going straight from IV-V to II-III could make the parallels between Luke and Anakin clearer, and make it all more symmetrical and dynamic.
I doesn't explain anything about any of the other episodes so from a story point of view it doesn't really matter.
>>67593841
>>67593878
i think he thought this was a ranking thread
If it is your very first time watching and you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about star wars:
1 4 5 2 3 6 7
>>67596976
Not >>67596774
Episode I didn't bring anything new. The bad guy died without the good guys knowing there was a bigger bad. The main good guy died without having the other good guys grow in character. Nothing new has been introduced to the universe besides (not that's) Podracing, midichlorians (which ruins the whole mysticism of the Force) and Jar Jar, and all of these three points will never be mentioned again in later movies. All in all a self contained, boring shitfest that can thankfully be ignored.
So I'd say IV, V, II, III, VI, VII with the prequels acting as "flashbacks" between V's cliffhanger so you get a better feel of who Vader was after his massive V reveal and appearance.
>>67598143
Wait what, 1 first? Why?
II - The Clone Wars - III
5 - 7 - 3 - 6 - 2 - 4 - 1
>>67598225
It would take me an hour to type out my whole explication on my phone but the gyst of it is that having the viewer get to know anakin in I puts more emphasis on the episode 5 twist. The viewer realizes that Vader is not only Luke's father, but also the protagonist they got to know and appreciate in episode 1

I'm tempted to watch it in that order now. Might be esoteric.

Jedi Knight 3 has a better story.
Watch it in this order:
A New Hope>Phantom Menace>Empire Strikes Back>Attack of the Clones>Return of the Jedi>The Force Awakens
>>67599844
Revenge of the Sith should be after Empire Strikes Back
Best watching order is 4, 5, 6, 7.
