I live in Hollywood and know multiple journalists, actors, and people involved in the industry through marketing etc.
What's holding me back? An engineering degree, a stable paycheck, and too much respect for myself to make my marketable skill "reading lines on paper".
If anything, I'd be a director or a producer, but the career I have actually drives society forward and doesn't cater to narcissistic airheads
I never had any interest in acting ever. If I could I'd be the guy making the music. But I'm still working on my music skills.
Because I get so deep into the mindset of my character I sometimes feel like I become them. It literally no joke might be harmful to my mental health.
I played a schizophrenic murderer in a play once, and backstage I started muttering to myself so much another actress called the teacher so was so scared.

I started working on becoming an actor. Got head shots, joined casting sites and looked for auditions. Even sent in a video audition (that I feel I was terrible at)
The thing about it is that you're acting out other peoples shitty characters that you have no idea how to relate to. And most characters are for the same cliche, skinny white pretty boy type. and the writing that they give you for auditions are terrible.
So I put my career on hiatus.
acting is just weird. and there's so many very bad concepts out there. mostly student films and indies with no pay when you're starting out.
but there is a rare chance you can get an audition for something major. usually background.

I've done some extras work. It was fucking awful. I was on crew and we needed some background actors in a classroom scene. They wanted some close ups reaction shots, so I had to pretend to laugh, force a smile and nod etc in front of like 30 people. I was dying inside. When post-production is finished, I don't even know if I'll view it.

I meant I have a fairly large nose, most actors have smaller noses and a completely straight forehead because it works perfect in most shots.
I live in Australia. Still i've made some smalltime movies and act on stage. It's fun, but i know unless i lose weight and get a part on Home and Away i'm probably not going anywhere.

My big sister is an actor. She lives in NYC and is doing a Broadway show. She has auditioned for tv pilots and she even got a spot on ABC's 2015 talent showcase last year.
I was a main role in Antigone in high school and we went to a natonal festival. I performed in front of 2000 people and got a lot of compliments.
I wish I could do more acting, but right now I just stay at home all day. Hopefully I'll go back to college in the fall and do some theatre... I need to get out of this rut.

Probably done 20 auditions by now (never got the part) and like 7 student films. When I'm on set and get comfortable I'm often complimented but when I audition I can never relax, sometimes I get so nervous I mumble terribly. Looks wise I've got a decently castable face and my agent believes in me but I honestly don't know if I'll ever be able to relax, or maybe somebody would pick me for just being neurotic.
