It's to do with the rotation of the Earth and timezones. Australians are closer to the start of time zones but Americans are eight days behind (e.g. if it is Wednesday in Australia it's Tuesday from the previous week in America). These are what the release dates look like the movie comes out simultaneously in both countries.
