Plus, the movie showed he only had one friend. If you're a child soldier, most would expect you to be driven of all morals, not be friends with everyone. However, Finn made a friend, unlike his other comrades, and once that friend was gone, he could let go of the First Order.

Nah. Indoctrinated soldiers could have a variety of feelings. Most would feel loyal. Some would feel fear of the outside world or repercussions. Others would stick by just because its the only life they knew. Others would stick by for their friends.
However, we only see Finn have one friend in the film. He doesn't check up on anyone else besides that one particular battle buddy, and when he dies, he can let go of the First Order.

Now this is pure speculation, unless you want to rely on the faggot-ass novel, but I viewed their confrontation as a sort of revenge confrontation, as if Finn killed his best bud too. It could be interpreted that Finn was just wanted by the FO, and he was just doing his job, but we don't really know unless jj says anything.
