Finn was ok although how the fuck he became Stormtrooper in the first place is beyond me.
Hux was meh. His voice mostly and the fact he didn't keep the cool like the old Imperial officers did.
After rewatching it, it seems pretty obvious Rey has some prior training and had her memory changed. There's no other explanation for Kylo sperging out when he hears Finn is with "a girl"

The First Order can rival the New Republic to such an extent that the NR would rather sign a peace treaty, giving away half the galaxy than continue the war against the First Order, but keep on memeing.

Why does everyone say this?
It was his first time out and there is no guarantee that you really know everyone you work with. Yes, he did appear to have a single friend there, but that doesn't mean he was friends with everybody, much less knew them in a deep and meaningful way.
Plus they were shooting at him after they killed a lot of innocent people, something that he found to be morally abhorrent so why should he care about them? The real questionable bit is why, after years of brainwashing, he decided to rebel and leave but hey, it's essentially a children's movie.

It's a weak and precarious situation, without a doubt, but it's not impossible.

If I made the decision to escape from my slavers, and my comrades made the decision to shoot me down and my former officers to close the docking bay gates on me, I'd want to survive and shoot them down.
I really don't think he had qualms about killing, just his friend getting killed. You literally see no other stormrooper care about his battle-buddy, besides Finn, in the battle. They have no morals while Finn has a smidgeon of morals.
However, I have to admit the writing was weak, and they should've made it more obvious, somehow. It's sad he developed into a comic-relief character until the final act.
