If you have seen the trailers, especially the one with Doomsday, you know the major points of the movie:Batman wants to kill Superman because of the casualties during Zod fight
Superman faces criticism - more or less teleguided by Luthor - for being out of control
Luthor obtains Kryptonite from that gravity engine from Man of Steel and Batman steals it
Luthor kidnaps Martha Kent and Superman has one hour to kill Batman
Batman spares his life because Superman, screams "Save Martha or whatever" and Martha is also the name of Bruce's mother so he is quite shaken
Then Doomsday appears (he is made from Zods body and a bit of Luthor blood
Wonder Woman appears too
They all fight then Superman sacrifices himself by using a spear made of Kryptonite, he kills Doomsday with it but Doomsday kills Superman too
At the end it's heavily implied that Superman will live again, and Bruce will gather the justice league

I think Winter Solider was a good mix of serious and fun. It was tone savvy and kept a balance of light and dark. If you have a movie with too much humor you get shit like Age of Ultron, and if you have a movie with no humor you get shit like this.
