I doubt it, the show already is going pretty heavily against history. Vane was supposed to hang after Jack took over his ship after a mutiny, and Vane got stranded on some Island before he ended up in the hands of the law.

But you can also look at it as character development. So I just watched S03E05 on South Korean Netflix.
Can anyone tell me the gist of what the beaten Spanish sailor was telling Charles Vane on the ship, right before they discovered the intelligence? Anything important to the plot?

It's this bro moment where vane gives respect of his skill. Vane asks why spanish sailor and crew didn't just give up if they knew they were gonna lose. Spanish bro explains if you come back showing you gave up to pirates you'll never get another job. If you fight and die at least your family might get some insurance money or compensation for your life.
It's a way of humanizing the nameless soldier grunts the pirates are fighting. Along with showing how ruthless Spain is in dealing with pirates. At least an english crew will just give up unlike spanish ones. And in this latest episode you know that Vane isn't unaware that the men he's killed have families, he just doesn't give a damn to talk to a priest about it.

First the spanish said that there was a fine line between them, that just a little more and Vane would be the one drinking. He talked about how dying there would be better because the spanish government were more likely to help his family that way, but either way surrendering was no option because of what they were transporting. Vane asks what it was and he says that it didnt matter at that point anyway (because the guy inside the cabin was destroying everything he could).
