just find a director that has these characteristics, I dont have enough knowledge to do so
>hyper violence
>trippy-psychedelic cinematography style
>surrealism or dream/drug stupor sequences
>neon/80's style
>little to no dialogue
and the same OT as the game. And it should be tied to the same areas, like I would be bummed if the prison level didnt have Le Perv blasting in my ears.
Regarding actors i dont know, I'd go for semi famous or even unknown ones

>>67205590
I'd really need to replay it to have an informed opinion.
It did have more memorable songs in the OT, it introduced a bunch of new mechanics, but something keeps the first one ahead in my mind, maybe it's just the novelty or "nostalgia". maybe if I payed attention to the story I would feel differently.
The gameplay sure was better in the first one imo, it had more of a flow, wrong number was way more methodical, you had to use guns in certain levels and you would get shot from off screen, also some levels were fucking huge, not necessarily a bad thing

>The gameplay sure was better in the first one imo, it had more of a flow, wrong number was way more methodical, you had to use guns in certain levels and you would get shot from off screen

I thought that too, but I replayed both recently, and it seems HM1 had it's own share of off screen killing and guns overuse (see: Hot & Heavy) and on the other hand - HM2 is not as bad in those things as some posters made it up to be.

I used a lot more melee in HM2. Of course the easiest way to deal with a problem was to duck and cover, but charging and quick decisionmaking with melee was mch ore viable, especially in hard mode which ironically I find easier in some cases (more enemies = easier combos).

>the only things 2 did better than 1 was the gameplay, everything else 1 did better

welp, gameplay is probably the most important thing in HM, next to music, but 2nd one expanded the plot a lot, explained wtf was going on in HM1 (we had no idea what happened in San Fran or who's photo was Jacket holding during last scene, and while I agree it was nice to speculate and making up our own headcanon, I enjoy the fact that they explained it instead of leaving it like that).
OST was much more diverse, they used some really god synth subgenres, also atmosphere was top tier.

The only terrible thing about HM2 for me was the fact, that those fuckers screw me (and not only me) on this whole level editor thingy. If it was released with th game we'd have a fuckton of custom levels and shit. In december community died down and editor was dumbed down because >muh copyrights as if it was their real concern.

/tv/ can't even discuss movies on its own board, so I don't see how anyone here can look down on /v/. This is probably the most relevant discussion towards the board's subject matter for halfway down the catalog. It's all just about how much anons love/hate certain celebrities with meme threads dispersed throughout. Half the people here don't even seem to have any particular fondness for movies or tv.

The discussion is movie driven, leave it alone.

I guess, could you do entire levels melee only? the eccessive requirement of guns and level size were my 2 biggest gripes afterall. I really should replay it and pay attention to the story.
I do think it just comes down to having played the first one first and not being able to recreate the feeling of discovering it. that's why it's dumb to say one is worse or better imo.

HM seems fairly remarkable to me. It uses pixel art to create a genuinely cool and unique aesthetic rather than just feeling like a lazy design decision played off as 'style' and the gameplay is fast and unique, two words that can rarely be used to describe video games lately.

The soundtrack together with the visuals and the fast paced 'trial & error' gameplay all work to get a weird kind of trance going that's really something else. Held my attention a hell of a lot better than anything else I've played since 2010.

>HM1 harder than HM2
objectively this is wrong. If you weren't a dumbass you'd pick the Tony mask in HM1 on every level and just knife 50% of the levels and fire long range guns on the other 50%, some levels you could even knife almost everything because it was so easy and had such fast frames.

HM2 requires you to switch up your strategy with every mask (which you can't choose), it wasn't THAT hard but way more challenging than HM1, that's for sure.

Basically cold war escalates and shits get real. Not wanting to destroy each other, Russia and America sign a treaty and create a council where both presidents are present. One US General sees this as losing and creates his own secret society in the US that uses PTSD victims/junkies as agents to cause conflict between the Russians and the Americans. In the end he succeeds and kills both presidents, starting WW3 and nuking the whole world.

Literature. Theater.

I don't know how you measure greatness but all you have to do is compare the greatest films ever made to the greatest video games ever made? I won't name which ones because that will cause an annoying discussion, but it's clear that the best films ever made are superior to the best games ever made. Simple as that.

Well, you'll have to get your superiometer checked out. Using my machine that objectively measures superiority I ran an experiment.

I put the best movie ever made Birth of a Nation and the best video game ever made Nier on two tv's in front of it and the superiogauge swung towards the video game tv. I don't know how it could be simpler. Video games are just better, sorry. If you can't accept that you just have some growing up to do.

Really though, senpaitchi, do you think movies aren't made with their consumers in mind? At the end of the day video games and movies both have to sell if they want to exist.

There's nothing for me to rebut with because your points are so shallow. If you had a half working brain anyone could realize how much effort and talent it takes to create a brilliant movie compared to a "brilliant" video game. Same goes from Lit vs. origami. In origami you can create some beautiful patterns with paper, but all in all it's just nifty handwork. If you have any time in your short life read a good book you'd realize the talent, time and effort to write a good book is miles ahead of a good origami work. It's just so blatantly obvious I have no use of responding to you with any more arguments. You're just hot headed, get it?

>Still not seeing that kinogrid. Just how shameful is your taste?

He's a slow indie director. Hotline Miami needs either massive amount of energy, say, Luc Besson in early 90s, or go the opposite way and omit the excitement of the killings. It really would not work with any mainstream directors with their predictable action scene per 15 mins with no risk style.

>I've been browsing /mu/ since 2009 and literally never seen anyone praise Alice in Chains

Well i don't know, all i see is Death grips and 90's rock bands and other tasteless shit.

>sharethreads and infographics
Those are the worst

>a lot of good music recommendations that no other site would
Well i don't know for you but for me music is something really personal, different than movies or books, you really have to look for yourself to find stuff you like. The only place where i found multiple bands i liked was some of the radio channels in GTA 4

Jason Eisener, the guy that did Hobo With a Shotgun, working closely in collaboration with designers Jonatan Söderström and Dennis Wedin. And it wouldn't be a movie, it would be a set of mini-series, starting from the original and culminating in a nuclear explosion.

Tell me more about how a genre is better than another (except maybe for rap/metal which are the absolute shit tier genres), my point was all you can find on /mu/ is memes, and circlejerk opinions, not actual music

exactly. /mu/ for me has been like a spark of interest. I might find a few bands or artists from different music genres, and from there explored and discovered similar genres and bands/musicians from said genres that I personally enjoy.

I don't exactly let /mu/ dictate my taste, I just use it as a spark of interest. Has worked very well for me so far at least

you just have to find the few good threads on there. They are usually slow moving and buried on maybe page 2-5 but they exist

browsing a board for a long time you learn how to filter out the shit and find the good stuff

I fucking hated playing as them, purely because Ash is programmed so goddamn poorly and he just shoots at walls 75% of the time.

That may have been true pre-2012 but /v/ is Tumblr + Reddit now. There's no hiding it even anymore, I checked back there last week and almost gagged on how disgustingly fucking terrible the board has gotten. This is from someone who has been on /v/ since /x/ was good and not just another /b/.
/v/ is unironically a shitty awful board now and anyone who is still there is either a sad fat dude who is unable to let go regardless of how shitty it gets or an underage Reddit kiddy.

Refn of course, but I wonder how much of the violence they can get away with, R Rated movies lately usually cut away from the blood in fear of getting a NC-17
