Whatever happened to saturday morning cartoons?
>>
kids prefer pewdiepie these days
>>
>>67184630
Kids watch porn now.
>>
The combination of kid-oriented content on both the Internet and on streaming services.

Why should kids have to restrict cartoons to Saturday Morning when they could watch cartoons any time they want?
>>
Between video games, organized sports on weekend mornings and the glut of choices one has to find youth programming (cable, DVDs, YouTube, Netflix, etc), Saturday morning cartoons have lost their influence.

It probably began when I was a kid, because on weekend mornings, I remember pee wee's playhouse, saved by the bell and WWF wrestling and NO cartoons.
>>
>>67184677
This. I'm an Oldfag and I hated that all of the cartoons were on so early in the morning when I was a kid in the 80's.

They can watch a variety of shows on one of 9 different 24 hour channels dedicated to cartoons.

>>
>you'll never get up early on a Saturday morning, grab a slice of cold pizza from the fridge and watch Kirby, Pokemon, Batman, or Shaman King ever again
>>
>>67184630
You grew up. Nostalgia goggles blind you from how terrible most of those shows were.

Kinda off topic but I'm Brazilian and there's a channel called SBT (Brazilian system of television)
The owner of it (Silvio Santos pic related) was one of the pioneers of TV here, some weeks ago he had a conference and a guy asked why he would insist in broadcasting cartoons every morning, then he proceeds to show graphics of how much money he was "losing" for not broadcasting something else
He stood up, interrupted the corporate vermin and said
"While I am still alive, the SBT will broadcast cartoons, once i'm dead you do whatever you want, i'm not betraying the kids because they never betrayed me, the adult watching the news in our channel was the kid watching our cartoons 20 years ago, now for the next topic."
Fucking based if you ask me
>>
>>67186322
>half those channels show live action sitcoms for 80% of their broadcasting
do some research before posting anon

NONE of your theories happened. They just can't legally do air them anymore thanks to progressive modern day hipster parents. The same parents that are fighting to remove Happy Meal toys from kids meals at McDonalds and Burger King. The same parents that got Disney to stop letting McDonalds release toys based off of their new upcoming films. >>67187440

>dat feel when there hasn't been a Disney Happy meal since 2005

>dat feel when Star Wars is owned by Disney now so you will never see any new burger king or McDonalds Star Wars Happy Meal toys in your lifetime ever again.
>>
Kids used to only have toys or cartoons to watch. Now they have youtubes, videogames, cellphone apps, etc.
>>
>>67188300
>star wars kids meal toys
o fuck anon, are you me?
>>
>>67187692
I don't understand your post? Are you implying that Saturday morning cartoons are still around?
>>
>>67188073
based indeed
>>
>>67187582
Regular show adventure time gumball and Clarence are all good but their morning programing is terrible. Nothing but neo looney tunes and Scooby-Doo rehashes, which I'll admit, are surprisingly enjoyable but not even a mediocre Scooby-Doo rehash can hold up a whole morning block of cartoons
>>
>>67188073
Hardcore.

How are the cartoons?
>>
>restrict cartoons vs having cartoons 24/7
Hmmmm
>>
the main reason is money
cartoons moved to private sector
and there was a huge push for censorship/ rating systems that forced them to rebroadcast the rating between every single commercial break
private sector is more accessible because people who want saturday morning cartoons now just buy the nickelodeon or whatever cartoon channel and they get cartoons 24/7 with it

most people are fucking plebs who do nothing but watch sports and the news and thats literally all they do every day of their life
>>
>>67189141
super shock
x-men
tom and jerry
teen titans
sponge bob
scooby doo
ben 10
kung fu panda
powerpuff girls
etc
after the cartoons it will broadcast a sitcoms like that's so raven and fresh prince
>>
I've watched over 150 cartoons and seen 1000 movies. I love nostalgia'ing. I still have every movie ticket from 1995-2016.
Saturday morninh cartooning was a special part of my life. Did anyone else ever flip over to NBC after cartoons were over and watch Hang Time and City Guys?
>>
>>67187440
This.

Stations are forced to run that educational shit.

Something changed recently where it became more profitable to shove all that shit into the Saturday morning time slots.
>>
>>67188073
>proceeds to show graphics of how much money he was "losing" for not broadcasting something else
Seems legit. After Mcdonalds and other fast food places turned their focus away from kids because of healthy eating producers were making way less money on advertising.
>>
>>67184630
Minecraft videos
>>
>>67184630
Migrated to cable tv
Streaming tv shows
Video games

Saturday morning cartoons are dead
>>
There are networks that run nothing but cartoons the majority of the day, sucks if you don't have cable/satellite tho.
>>
>>67191593
That already existed in the 90's and early 2000s with Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. Still, Saturday morning cartoons played on Fox, WB, I think even ABC.
