Is there a movie or television show in which the female character isn't the most insufferable?
Alien
Glee
Hobo With a Shotgun

little miss sunshine
Wakfu
Archer
Everytime they try too hard to write the female character as strong and independant, it will be obnoxious as fuck
Louise from Bob's Burgers. Every other female in that show is toxic

This but she's essentially just a male character being played by a female actor.
>>67183772
People will say Elaine from Seinfeld, but by god I hated that fucking character
>>67183772
Always Sunny
>>67184123
she's heavily maternal n shit
>>67184123
you mean she's a good character being played by a female actor.
>>67184123
what a stupid statement

Arrested Development

>Looking back on her character in 2009, Weaver told AFI that, “I think what attracted me to Ellen Ripley was that she, first of all, was a character who was written as a man, so it was written in a very straightforward way. This was a kind of direct person who didn’t have these scenes where she was suddenly vulnerable and she didn’t throw her hands up and wait for someone else to save her. She was a thinking, moving, deciding creature. And I think that the other thing that interested me was that she went from someone who sort of believed the world was a certain way, to someone who couldn’t believe in anything any more, and went from someone who’s sort of a thinking person to someone who’s kind of an instinctive animal. So there was lots of progressions in the character that I just thought would be very interesting to play.”
It's literally a male written character being played by a woman. They don't even deny it.

how predictable. I just waited for you to post this. Everybody knows this already, anon.
Peggy in Mad Men
Elizabeth in The Americans
Marcia Clark in American Crime Story

>Looking back on her character in 2009
These are the actors thoughts on the subject, not the person who wrote the character who has far more credibility in determining what their character is and is not.
>>67185126
>multiple posters denied it
>everybody knew it
Do you like being a nigger?
All this Lisa hate's getting on my nerves a bit
People on here probably only hate her because they identify with Bart (the 10 year old)
>>67185290
no one denied, that ripley originally was written as a male
>>67185353
Fuck off she's a bitch who forces her views on others.
>instead of just bringing a vegetarian lunch I'll force the school to change their lunch system
>>67185353
>Bart (the 10 year old)
thanks for the clarification

Lisa is insufferable because her episodes are Jame L Brook's. you can see his treacly fingerprints all over them.
>>67185437
She learns her lesson at the end to keep her views but not shove them down others throats... that's literally the point of the episode
and school obviously should provide veggy options , are you dumb?
>>67183772
TBBT
>>67185516
but she never really does learn this lesson does she? that's the consequence of running a show for 20+ years, it's getting old.
Parks and Rec
>>67183973
but she actually does action stuff. Lisa just goes on about buhddism and vegetarianism
>>67185587
All that's important is if someone watches the episode haves some laughs and learns from it.For me that episode ticked all the boxes
>>67183772
Pretty bad, one I recall is where she wanted Homer to ref Soccer and then gets mad at him for not letting her cheat with bad calls.
>>67185591
The only one that's likable is April
>>67184342
In the sequels.
>>67185353
>feminists identify with the eight year old
>>67184180
The point is that every main character is insufferable, except it's enjoyable to the audience.
>>67185353
>always remains politically correct
>does nothing wrong
>is always right
>has no flaws
There's a reason why there's ton of Bart merchandise but hardly any of Lisa
>>67186383
>has no flaws
I hate her but she does have plenty and they take the time to show them in a lot of episodes, especially the ones where she acts sanctimonious
>>67186383
People still buy Bart merchandise? Is this the 90s?
>>67184955
None of the characters were written with a gender in mind
>>67183772
Oh, God....Flanders ripping into Lisa during his famous Hurricane Neddy tirade was a top 10 Simpsons moment for me
I never realized what a cunt Lisa was until she called Homer a baboon. I don't give a fuck what she was going through at the time; that was out of line and Bart would have most certainly gotten choked for that if he had said it.
The vegetarian episode was probably her worst episode in terms of being a cunt (although I hated her in the angel skeleton episode, too)
>>67187571
>And for no reason, here is a Beatle and his wife to glorify vegetarianism and make Lisa feel empowered
God I hate that episode, first half was actually fine and produced some solid laughs like the Flanders reunion and seeing Flanders from around the world which was eerie how similar they all were.
