>>
Nah. We're just entering the precursor period to hyperinflation.

>>67140288

No, we're entering the golden age of insidious marketing techniques and inflated currency.
>>
None of these movies would be considered a classic in the future. It just shows how much people love garbage.

When I grow old and have grandkids, I'll tell them that I lived in the most glorious era of cinema. The era of superheroes and jedis, where comic book novels came to life in the big screen in full glory and special effects and cg animation where at its peek. A tear will come from my eye and my grandchildren will ask me, "Grandpa, why are you crying? Do you miss it?"

"No, my child, I lived in it"

Thank you based Marvel, DC and Disney

Thank you...

The best method would be, if someone made a composite measure
of
>How much it grossed
>Adjust for inflation
>Adjust for us dollar exchange rate when including foreign gross
>Tickets sold
>Time in the theaters
>Theaters it aired in

It will. Inflation is a bitch.
>>
Just the china market
>>
>>67140288
Minions is the only good movie in there
>>
How does carshit like Furious 7 get that high?
>>
When you allow for inflation none of those movies have not even beaten A New Hope. Plus the fact that the population of North America has doubled since 1960.
>>
>>67140323

it's not that, it's more the centralization of cinema

the box office is split between less films every year with the big blockbusters earning more and more money
>>
>>67140523

In my country box office is always communicated in ticket sales, it's so fucking stupid to give the gross.

>using a chart not adjusted for inflation
>>
>>67141316
whats even more telling is how ticket sales have actually fallen since the 60s, despite there being twice as many people.
>>
>>67141347

Ideally box office should be shown with (ticket sales)/(current population)
>>
>>67140416
I liked the Despicable Me movies and loved them. Minions was pretty bad. I stopped watching it for an hour before going back, as I wanted to eat and watch something at the same time. It had its moments but damn it was boring a lot.

Also,
>hating popular
It wasn't a popular movie.
>>
>>67141316

>>67140523
you're objectively wrong. Gone With the Wind is still #1.
>>
>>67140547
Wheres spiderman and xmen? :^)
>>
>>67140523
Probably the most accurate list you can get.

Still hard to account for the fact that Gone with the Wind had so many theatre runs. The fact that it sold so many tickets every run is impressive, but it's also not reasonable to expect films to beat it in a 3 month year theatrical release.
>>
>>67141293
Vin Diesel's relationship with Paul Walker and the associated tragedy had nearly everyone watching it just for the send off.

Whether or not he's sincere, it's a marketing ace in the hole.

The movies are also comfy as fuck.
>>
>>67141513
>but it's also not reasonable to expect films to beat it in a 3 month year theatrical release.
They could re-release them every now and then, I guess they don't want to do that as to not hurt DVD/BluRay/Netflix sales.
I go to showings of old movies all the time, but it's only this one cinema showing them, not a wide re-release. Europoor btw.
>>
>>67140573
>the only movies in the top 10 that isn't a sequel, reboot or spin-off are Avatar, Titanic and Frozen
Thank you, based Cameron
