Is this an avant-garde masterpiece?
>Directed by a woman
It's a piece of shit
>>67100481
What i want to know is how they could fuck up the ReBoot with freddy being a long established character.
>>67102145
Are you talking about Freddy's Dead being a reboot? Am I reading that right? Cause I never thought of it as a reboot. That would actually make some sense to me.
>>67100507
You must also hate American Psycho, hmm?
>>6710217
nah the 2010 one.
>>67100481
7 is a masterpiece.
>>67100481
The homoerotic one is a masterpiece
>the finale nightmare
>makes at least 3 more nightmare movies after
>>67102303
#2 lol
>that depp cameo

I thought the Dream Master was supposed to be the non-narrative avant-garde one.
>Not Freddy's New Nightmare
it does have a weird cartoony feel to it
the main problem was giving him a backstory, especially since Freddy was the most likable character in the later movies
>>67102348
its the best sequel but the only comes close to being avant garde is New Nightmare, and now meta is overdone
>>67102286
>>67102358
Truth. It's a shame Scream gets all the praise when Wes had done postmodern horror perfectly before that.
>>67102387
>best sequel
But thats not Dream Warriors
>>67102437
Best movie. Best song
>>67102348
Dream Master would be a great movie if it weren't for the invisible kung-fu scene. I know they were out of money but fuck
>>67102437
I do love dream warriors a lot, thats pretty fair
>>67102437
I got 3 and 4 mixed up, similar titles
>>67102437
If New Nightmare counts as a sequel then it's the best, if not then Dream Warriors
Dream Master is damn good though
I thought FvJ was fun as fuck, and about as good as it was possibly capable of being after so long in development hell.
Come at me.
>>67102511
agreed desu
New Nightmare = 1 > 3 > F vs J > 4 > 6 > 2 > 5
And Never Sleep Again is the best documentary about a film series I've ever seen.
>>67102511
yeah its pretty redundant and freddy only kills one person but a really fun movie
>>67102511
its was a good sendoff for Englunds freddy, and entertaining for a cross over.
>>67102506
Personally I don't count it as a direct sequel simply because it takes place outside the canon universe. Solid fucking movie though.
>>67102587
Never Sleep Again was superb. I only wish other movie series got that kind of treatment.
>>67102587
Perfect ranking.
>>67102662
i think friday the 13th did
>>67102587
well done
>>67102587
>>67102662
Is the Friday the 13th one any good? Crystal Lake Memories or whatever
>>67102587
funny thing is that 5 is the only one I own physically
some good kills on that one even if they are edited
>>67102701
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2396421/
>almost 7 hours long
>made by the same people as Never Sleep Again
Fucking christ. I don't even really like F13 and I'm considering watching it.
>>67102587
I think New Nightmare is definitely better than the original, yet also impossible to fully appreciate on its own. Watching the two back-to-back is a pretty awesome time
Also I actually kinda like Dream Child, there are some crappy scenes but for the most part it's solid, certainly better than Freddy's Revenge
>>67102662
The Umbrella/Madman special editions of Argento's movies from 10 years ago had some good docos as special features. One about Argento only and one about Slashers in general.
>>67102781
Dream Child committed a sin that none of the other movies did, it was boring.
>>67102750
The Friday the 13th movies are comfy as fuck, you should watch all of them and then go for the documentary. It'll be worth it anon
Pic related is the best one
Was Nancy the cutest girl on any NoES?
I think so. I literally fell in love when she imitated "screeeech" sound.
>>67102903
Nah. The one about the mental farm is my favorite.
>>67102903
I like this one because it's a parody of a tired series in a tired genre. Really smart script too. I hate 3 and 4, and think 2 is the best genuine horror movie in the franchise, but all the others have decent comfy moments and a few scares. Not my favorite series but overall pretty fun.
You guys like Sleepaway Camp?
>>67103021
A New Beginning, that one is great too. Also refreshing tohave a killer other than Jason
>>67103105
It's been years since I watched any of the Sleepaway Camp movies, but I remember enjoying them. Hard to forget the ending of the first one
>>67103105
>>67103180
Sleepaway camp was the poor kid's F13th and thats saying something. Was there an actual horror icon that came out of those movies?
>>67103678
They had a lot more tits. That alone makes them better.
>>67103678
I mean the first one is set up as the most generic 80s slasher there is but there's this weird nagging feeling that something is not right and then it goes all insane David Lynch shit and its ending is plain horrifying, not to mention it's a good satire of the genre and a lot of 80s culture with really good uncomfortable shit happening the whole time.
IMO Sleepaway Camp qualifies as avant-garde more than any NoES film.
Why are slashers so fucking comfy?
I think it may actually be my favorite genre.
>>67102437
That's not Freddy's Revenge aka THE GAYS.
Hands down, the scariest Freddy of the franchise.
>>67102286
It would be if i wasn't for the kid
