Correct. People(including many people on /tv/ who should know better) get too caught up on the percentage. A 98% simply means that 98% of the counted critics gave it a favorable review. A favorable review doesn't necessarily mean they all thought it was a 10/10 perfect film.

Max Landis is the ultimate ideas man, the sort of guy who has a ton of really great ideas but unfortunately lacks the talent to realize these ideas.
Since Ghostbusters is currently relevant, Max is a lot like Dan Aykroyd: Aykroyd had a great idea with Ghostbusters, but it only worked because Harold Ramis collaborated with him on the script. Landis needs a Ramis.
I'd also say Landis's movies have had other problems beyond scriptwriting, problems that would be outside his control.
