The manga is even worse than the anime. It's not drawn by Toriyama and hardly written by Toriyama. Goku looks like a 12 year old lanky fuck. At least in the anime he mostly looks like Goku. And for some reason the anime is leading anyway.
Both is kinda shit, anyway. Fans criticise characters besides saiyans are too unimportant so they made them even more unimportant and weaker instead of giving them some buffs somehow (please don't act like it actually requires good writing to give character buffs in shonen manga).

Gohan should have finished up as the the most powerful character by far, it was OBVIOUS from the earliest arcs that this was always going to the case, but Goku had become such a popular character, I guess they had to change things up for the Buu Saga.

Goku's death in finishing off Raditz wasn't a "doesn't matter" one, it was planned and they knew they were going to revive him in a year after training with King Kai
The most fun in these series' was always the tournaments to me.But they always managed to get fucked up by some catastrophic event or whatever.

Shadow Dragons being the final boss is a fucking great concept, but executed in the worst possible way. Seriously, the fucking final battle vs Omega Shenron they attempt to fool him with the "After Image Technique" something Roshi used against Goku and it didn't even work. Just so much shit like that, it's so fucking awful. And Super is even worse. I do agree about the animation though. GT didn't look terrible. And by comparison to Super it looks fucking GOAT tier.
I am one of the few fags who likes Super. I say go for it OP if you like cutesy fluff.
What I can recommend with more gusto is Battle of Gods and Resurrection F. Definitely watch those (BoG especially)
