But really, Bond taking the torture the best he can. Every time I see a torture scene in a movie I remember the conversation in Ronin about it. How nobody can last forever. The best you can do is use whatever you can to stop or lessen the torture without telling them what they want, so I think Bond did a good job by minimizing the treat of the torture by making fun of it, actually manipulating the torturer to lose his mind, probably wanting the torturer to kill bond in an act of butthurt than continuing the torture.

I was doing ticket control in a cultural institute some years ago. Every year they had a week of silent movies with live music - Charlie Chaplin, Metropolis, this stuff.

Then, the eye slashing scene came. I was still outside to let late people in and I've never seen the film myself, but I know of the eye scene and the guests should too, the target audience of the institute is the educated mid-high society who learns about surrealism and such in school. At least the flyer should have tipped them off, everyone knows Dalí.
Of course, all those children began crying at the same time. Mothers were storming me, "how we could show such a violent movie to children".
Turns out they thought it's a children's movie because it's got "dog" in its name.
