What did /tv/ think of the ending?
Was it the last episode or the christmas special? I haven't seen the christmas special yet.
Also, I didn't think anyone else here watched this show.

It felt like they had to rush it a bit to make sure everyone got a happy ending, but I didn't really mind. Just happy Edith didn't get fucked over like she usually does.

I felt season 1 was good.
Season 2 first half was OK 2Nd half pretty bad
3Rd season shit so I stopped watching.
Mary was a massive cunt and the definition of privileged bitch.
Lord Grantham had the situational awareness of an inebriated chimpanzee

Anna and Bates were superfluous and should have been cut, they were entirely there for the muh feels crowd
In short the drama died out and so did the time frame. They should have kept the time skip up, had people actually murdering and conspiring rather than being nice, and shown a couple of actual generations. Instead it was a sappy and lame expensive soap opera and even Maggie Smith couldn't save it

For half an hour after I finished it I thought they'd actually ended it with Lady Mary getting a second happy ending despite shafting Edith.
Christmas special didn't really make up for it. Both of them focused way too much on Lady Mary, the most boring character on the show. Are there actually people who watched it for her shitty "struggles", or was it just the writers who somehow thought people watched it for Lady Mary?

I'm still not sure if the last season did a somewhat-subtle thing with him getting fatter because he'd become a lazy upper-class twat stuffing himself, or whether that was just coincidence.

Never passed over the first two seasons, then got some episodes because my gf loved it. Too much sentimental stuff got over the pretty good acting, photography, costumes. It was a delight to see but I started to hate all characters with the exception of Barrowman, Branson and Lady Grantham.

What the fuck, man. Why even throw it in there if you're just going to cast it aside in favour of the bitch character finding love for the second time? It could have been a good ending if Mary had had a background story, with the suicide and maybe Edith finally getting married being the big stories.
