Am I the only one who wants Hulu, amazon and HBO now to merge so they can take down Netflix?
Probably
The ad-free version of Hulu is pretty great tbqh
More like they should all merge so I don't have to pay for multiple subscriptions
>>66689400
Yes, because only a contrarian who hates everything popular would prefer those three over Netflix.
>>66689400
Then we're right back to everything being relegated to the cable standard. Fuck off.
I steal it all anyway.
>>66689457
Netflix is a cancer for the industry. Anyone with half a brain can see this
>>66689453
>More like they should all merge so I don't have to pay for multiple subscriptions
>implying the price wouldn't multiply 10 times without any competition
>>66689547
Explain.
>>66689400
I thought it was HBO Go.
>>66689600
binge watching destroys critical thinking. people just zone out and gorge themselves.
not really netflix's fault though. blame the public for being such idiots.
>>66689749
You're an ass.
>>66689749
How does that "destroy the industry"?
>>66689749
Binging goes back to TV marathons, then box sets, it's nothing new.
>>66690014
People used to binge rewatch. Now they release new content all at once.
>>66689749
Binge watching allows the viewer to take in and process a season of content as a whole rather than digesting each individual episode.
It's different but that doesn't make it bad.
A show like Jessica Jones benefits greatly from this format. As a whole it's decent but there are some serious clunkers mixed in.
>>66690125
I'd say the show that really hit the sweet spot in terms of benefiting from it would be Making A Murderer.
>>66689749
>people just zone out
Just because you don't have an attention span, doesn't mean everyone else does as well.
>>66690276
You've never netflixed with people have you? Fucking retards talk though it.
Watched netflix with a girl last week, the cunt talked through the entire goddamn episode, I just left, what's the fucking point?
>>66690317
>Watched netflix with a girl last week, the cunt talked through the entire goddamn episode, I just left, what's the fucking point?
>>66690317
>Watched netflix with a girl last week, the cunt talked through the entire goddamn episode, I just left, what's the fucking point?
>I just left
You'd be a lot less angsty right now if you weren't a retard and stayed.
>>66689749
>not really netflix's fault though
It is if they're enabling it
>>66690317
>getting baited this hard
Amazon Instant is actually pretty legit. I've been binge watching the Sopranos and the X-Ray feature is neat.
>>66690203
I enjoyed Making a Murderer but it could have been a 2 hour documentary and gotten the point across just as well.
Of course not as many people would have seen it in that format.
>>66690317
>You've never netflixed with people have you?
>watching movies and tv with other people
>>66690317
>social situation
>EVERYONE! SHUT THE FUCK UP AND STOP BEING SOCIAL
...
>>66690540
Making a murderer only needed to be 30 seconds long. All they needed to do was show the people, say they were being investigated for murder and they all have IQs in the 70 range.
End of story.
Amazon Prime has garbage selection for movies.
>>66690125
its a bad thing that the new way of watching television allows content creators to skate by with "some serious clunkers" because people have already moved on to the next episode. it lets bad content off the hook.
>>66691447
But every show ever has had them.
>>66691447
Only if the people watching are morons. I quit that Aziz Ansari shitshow after 2 episodes. And that Love show after 5 minutes.
>>66691551
well thats my point. large pockets of the public are stupid and will just keep watching provided the next episode is right in front of them.
fuller house is a great example. i saw countless people saying some variation of "i know its bad but i'm gonna binge it anyways"
>>66691546
i'm not saying it is exclusive to netflix or amazon's shows. I mean look at the final seasons of dexter and how many people stuck around till the end even while saying how terrible it all was.
I'm just saying i think netflix/amazon's way of doing it has pushed it to a whole new level. and i don't think that is a good thing.

It's okay to see a season of episodic television as a whole. It's how the creators want it to be viewed.
Movies are 90 minutes long typically and they can have lulls in them and still be decent or good. It's not fair to hold 8+ hours of content to a higher standard than a 90 minute film.
