Tom Cruise deserved an Oscar nomination for his performance in Collateral
>>
>>66587821
nah..

it was a meme performance. Collateral is a laugh-out-loud comedy and comedies never win oscars.

good direction tho
>>
>>66587891
>it was a meme performance.

I wish I could punch you through the internet, you pathetic little gobshite.
>>
>>66587821
Rewatched it the other day, early digital cameras at night DON'T age well.
What was Mann thinking?
>>
Heat was better.
>>
>>66587925
The operating makes up for all the flaws to me
Cruise's pistol combat training is really evident
>>
>>66587925
Really? I still think it looks pretty good
>>
>tfw i enjoyed collateral so much that i based a night in LA off it

10/10 kino senpai

Hello underage

I thought it was a good movie up until the ending. I really wish Cruise's character got more philosophical to be honest.

Also I hate Jamie Foxx in general, he's an asshole in real life and this is one time where I think Adam Sandler would have been a better choice.
>>
>>66588095
I always wonder how Adam Sandler would've played the role, it would be interesting
>>
>>66588141
I think Adam Sandler would have dropped his usual comedy bit and actually would have been serious.
>>
this movie would be a debatable 10/10 if jamie foxxs character had an edgier and more complete arc and cruiser was able to escape instead of that cliche good guy always wins ending

instead its just another stylish interesting but poorly wrapped up 6/10 drama thriller. meh. reminds me of another foxx movie actually..

Nah it's because of diversity, he said it himself in an interview.
It's funny because it was supposed to be a new yorker jew with mommy issues(basically any poor jew ever).

Tom Cruise is a better actor than Leo DiCaprio. So is Brad Pitt.

this board will never have a serious discussion again

just kids baiting fags by using the word meme and reddit without backing up any of their opinions with substance

good night sweet prince

I think the digital-ness of it looks great.
>>

Vincent a shit, got fucking shot by an untrained taxi driver like a retard.
>>
Mann's movies are too good for Oscars. The academy is for plebby middlebrow shit like Steve McQueen, Inarritu, Bigelow, etc.
>>
>>66588641
Lovely, so smart argument. They weren't before they were, but whatever serves the little minds.
>>
>>66588207
>cliche good guy always wins ending

They didn't end it like that "just because" or for accessibility. It tied off some of the themes, the things Cruise and Foxx discussed earlier.

You think it should end with Cruise defeating Foxx just because it would be subversive, or just because it'd be more realistic for the trained operator to win?

Realism and subversion aren't the only or dominant forces in writing a story.
>>
>>66588578
That's how I feel lately
I fucking hate that this board is just regurgitated opinions of others and shitposting

Michael Mann should really be directing High Rise to be honest. His films are more Ballardian than anything Wheatly could ever dream of putting to film.
>>
Collateral was good and pretty comfy had some really good shots
>>
>>66588770
no, i think it should have ended with both characters learning something from each other; foxx learns to go for shit and pursues the girl and his business, cruiser learns that there is a better way and let's them go off into hiding/to do something worthy of his gifts and intelligence that is productive instead of destructive.

it may seem anticlimactic but it also is much more beautiful imo, would have a much more interesting cult following and begs for a sequel even though it doesn't need one. almost like the spiritual successor to blade runner tbqh

Besides you pathetically trying and being unable to escape your large imbecility to understand a simple phrase and its implications, the reductionism and falsehoods disguised through 'witty' name constructions is just further proof of you as just another tourist with classic hot opinions.

This. I've always kinda liked Cruise, and I'll admit I fell into the hating him because of scientology bullshit. I had never seen collateral until a year or so ago, and it completely turned me back into a fan.

I'll still try to have actual conversation from time to time, but as soon as the tide even starts turning, I usually just say fuck it, and roll with the shit.

no wonder moot left the ship
good news is there is another chan that is pretty good without the 12y olds and faggots /tv/ section there is also good have some shitposting but have some good discussion 2

been laughing for 2 minutes straight. I don't know if it's because I find it funny or because it's tragic. There truly will be no substance to any discussion on this board if this keeps going. Meme and Reddit as detractors will never end.

idk, that seems really really optimistic in a way that would be hard not to clash with the tone of the events that came before. It also just seems to "made for a movie" or otherwise unrealistic. And with the ending the way it is, the audience can still "learn a lesson" even if Cruise's character didn't.
>>
>>66589037
lel, good one, bro
>>
>>66591570
Gunshot wounds aren't like video games where blood explodes out every time
Often you won't see them and they don't bleed much at first, or at all
>>
>>66591966
But they're not visible until they hit the ground. Looking at the webm it's clear they were superimposed in post production.
Plus, other movies have made a better effort to place good looking, instantaneus gunshot wounds
