Her allusion to him rising back up he was taking literally meaning using his wings and going home and they (He) whoever took his wings took the choice away from him which kind of hits back at him losing the choice (Free will) to decide what he wants to do with his life.
Would be a cool premise if it wasn't a detective show. Turned me off so hard.
