It's a good show but the UK version is so superior it's not even funny. I think overall it's probably overrated considering how long it was allowed to go on and how many people have seen it without even giving a shot to the UK version

Why didn't Jim just take the corporate job in New York and ask Pam to move there with him? Both of them hated the idea of being stuck in Scranton their whole lives and that gave the early seasons real pathos. The show completely goes off the rails when they become a boring ambition-less couple.
Seasons 1-3 = God tier
Seasons 4-7 = becomes a cartoon (Michael driving the car into the lake, etc)
Season 8-the end = garbage

Michael Scott is the best TV character ever created.
I never really enjoyed it but that's because I saw the britbong original version first so that seemed more like my humor and when I watched the US version it just felt wrong. A first time watcher or a straight up American would probably like this though.
