The stuff of legend that inspired and elevated the earlier episodes has here been replaced largely by the stuff of comic books. It still makes for an eye-filling two hours-plus of entertainment but, despite its huge cast of new intergalactic grotesques, Jedi seems woefully familiar. It's as if the animations aren't the only thing that has been computerized.

Ewoks were fine. A little silly, but the whole point was that the Empire in their arrogance completely ignored and underestimated the "primitives" living on Endor. If they had been some species known to be badasses like wookies, the point would have been kinda lost.

For me it's that, plus how they, a race in its stone-age, can instantly operate imperial technology. Some training would have been nice.

I liked the Ewoks. If it had been wookies, it wouldn't have been quite as bizarre and unassuming. The idea of them using primitive traps was nice, but I think the problem was that they should have used traps that were more brutal. i don't buy arrows or pebbles doing much damage to storm trooper armor.

I watched the original trilogy for the first time a couple of months ago, and ROTJ was the one that I enjoyed watching the most at the time, but it's also the only one of the three where I have trouble recalling the sequence of events. I'm not sure what to think of that.

They forced Han, Leia and arguably Chewie and Lando into roles just to have them. Like why would they send Leia into Jabbas Palace and to destroy a bunker in Endor instead of some commando?
Ewoks weren't bad but they were definitely a sign of Lucas thinking about marketing audiences first.

Nothing it was a great movie. However in hindsight, TFA makes it very depressing. All that sacrifice for absolutely nothing. The New Republic gets corrupt, bloated and dies. The Empire makes a return and Luke's Jedi Order is shattered.
