Now that the dust has settled, what did you think of Mad Max Fury Road?
It was alright. Felt horribly cut down, like someone had a huge new rebooted mad max film idea and then it got cut up into a semi-coherent story with half the pages.
Shit desu
>>66442864
I haven't watched the original Mad Max and frankly I thought this one was shit. I don't get the massive hard on this board has for it. It's a movie that tries really hard to look stereotypically "cool" and kinda manages it, but there's literally nothing else to it.
>>66442864
It's good
WITNESSTHESE
I watched the Nostalgia Critic review and he told me it's crap, so I HATE IT
>>66443787
>I haven't watched the original Mad Max
Opinion disregarded
It dragged on and was generally boring
I watched the Reddit Letter Memia review of it and they told me it's good, so I LOVE IT
Great action movie with phenomenal practical effects. Could've been better but still really great
I enjoyed it, but it gets boring if you watch it more than twice
>>66443954
>>66443898
I know it's a maymay but pls die
Amazing, second only to sicario
I wanna spread my butter on Toast if you know what I mean
Greatest modern action film
>>66442864
Good flick, saw it twice in the theater
I loved it. I recommended to my pops who liked road warrior and he fuckin hated it.
Pure kino.
I had trouble hearing the dialogue, even when there were no explosions happening
>>66443933
You probably think the Star Wars prequels are gr8
It was ok
9/10
Was he autistic?
Overrated garbage. Cool movie if you enjoy 2 and a half hour long car chases tho..
>>66443933
This desu, he should watch Road Warrior instead
>>66444413
What makes it garbage?
Best action film I've seen in a long time.
The universe is also interesting and I can't wait to see more weird shit
>>66444149
What did he say about it familia?
>>66442864
>Now that the dust has settled
>>66444458
>No story.
>No character development.
>Kind of cool visuals? Nothing to really right home about, tho.
Honestly I just felt like it was an uninteresting movie -- didn't understand the hype it received.
I saw it again on HBO last night. The sped-up scenes looked really awful. I don't know how I didn't notice them before.
>>66444618
I understand those criticisms. It was kind of flat and emotionless.
The action was fun and creative, and I enjoyed the world building. As a vehicle for cool action it does well, but it doesn't try to do anything more than that.
>>66444618
>muh plot
>muh character arcs
Any other memes up your sleeve?
I think its the best movie last year, and its one of my all time favorites
sure, it lacks story and character, but the action and visuals make up for it
>>66444618
>>66444728
this in all honesty famalam
I love how everyone here is now giving it mixed to negative reviews.
When it came out and you pointed out how it was basically one long chase scene with zero character development you were called a "pleb" and told to "go back to bleddit".
Fuck you /tv/. Fuck all your tv's.
>Great stunts
>Great props
>Great costumes
>Great editing
>Lots of cool worldbuilding without beating you over the head with exposition
>Nux was a QT
10/10 action movie
Hope the Oscar nom encourages more like it
>>66443954
I was pretty surprised that they hated The Memetian
>pure action movie
>muh deep plot
>muh character development
When will this meme end?
>>66444203
>hes too poor to own a sound bar.

/tv/ isn't a serious discussion board mate
>>66445054
>/tv/ is one person
>it's my duty to point out when /tv/ is being a hypocrite
>>66445136
Great action films like Die Hard and Terminator had good storylines and character development.
Why are you so willing to settle for shit?
>>66442864
absolute masterpiece
this is why cinematography exists
>>66442864
>le dust settled meme
There is nothing I hate more that that fucking phrase.
>>66445204
Put they are not pure action movies.
>>66445204
>Die Hard
>character development
also meme'd me there, anon
Also Nux had a fun little arc
>>66445242
>>66443787
>"I haven't seen the original Mad Max"
>Thinks that their opinion has value
Nice
Just rewatched it again last night, and if anything I think it's still on average under appreciated. I still haven't completely wrapped my head around all the brilliance going on in the movie because it is a relentless bombardment of spectacle and you have to actively engage with it which is difficult as we are trained to shut our brains off in most action scenes these days. We haven't seen a type of purely entertaining movie with this level of storytelling visual or otherwise in a long time, and probably won't for just as long. It's a movie out of time, one that exemplifies the best things a cinematic experience can offer. It'll be worshipped and loved forever.
>>66442864
Best action movie of the last 20 years
>>66445337
Uh, so you're saying Die Hard didn't have character development? I'm not saying it had a ton, but we got some at least.
I didnt hate it/ but then again i was told to go into it with the head cannon that it was mad max but that weird freaky kid from road warrior who was emulating his hero
Makes more sense why he rarely talked and didnt seem to fit the same character
>tfw it was so good that all other recent action films seem shit in comparison

Loved it.
Probably my favorite movie of the year along with Sicario.
Sad thing is, it's going to be a long time until we get anything remotely alike it, and we're going to be noticing that in the coming years more than we do now.
>>66444287
They objectively are you autist
>>66442921
The middle also dragged on for ages and it was all >muh femen feels
Who gives a toss?
Also felt more like the 3rd movie in that part.
Anyway i hope we get a 5th movie that isnt asshit with bloody furryosa in the entire movie
Very good movie and made all the other action movies released its year look like shit.
>>66445423
I guess black cop learning to shoot niggers again?
Other than that the characters are pretty static throughout
>>66445470
>Nux's carmate sniping the guy's witness at the last second
It's the little things
Could have been a perfect action movie apart from a few flaws. Max himself is a bit average and the intensity of the action peaks in the middle of the film, as does the musical score, making the film's final act slightly underwhelming. But it's really excellent in pretty much every respect and has great rewatch value. I've seen it four times and noticed new visual motifs and character beats each time.
/tv/: "Feminism is ruining movie!"
/tv/: "Fury Road is great! I loved Furiosa!"
Someone both of these statements are true on /tv/.
>>66444203
>yify
>>66445562
The Matriarchal Group being crap was great though.
Furiosa talks up this wonderful paradise of women and farming. Then they get their and it all went to shit. The women resorted to using their bodies and killing, just like the men. The Women's great plan was to just keep riding across what used to be the ocean until they died from thirst or starvation.
Max, a man, tells them to go back to the Citadel. To take over the civilization that Immortan Joe and his two brothers had built.
>>66442864
I honestly liked it and I have hopes that the sequel won't disappoint me either.
>>66446209
>built
>>66446453
like a brick shithouse!
>>66446453
Immortan Joe, People Eater, and Bullet Farmer created an ordered society with food, water, security.
Furiosa and her Women's Gardening Club. They basically hid out in a green spot until the water got polluted.

Can you imagine this guy watching something like 2001
>>66444618
Had to have seen originals
Comic book ties them together
i still hate you
>>66446834
I like 2001
Its just on the 10th time watching that boring ass MUH FEELS bit in the middle of Fury Road starts to get really old
>>66445142
but I do, that's what was confusing me about it, explosions and shit are ridiculously loud, everything else sounds like its way way way in the background
The cars
so many aussie made cars that american shitters wont even realise
so many cars that only get 4-5 seconds film time
every car used in the movie had to be able to run under its own power and do at least 80mph
valiant charger on tank tracks all done with hydrolics 80mph
twin 400ci chevs on a truck chassis 80mph
an ex soviet missile truck covered with working speakers 80mph on sand
/tv/ missed the little things
>>66447022
witness them fuckers
Road warrior is all about the cars
>>66447022
the normie non carfags will never appreciate this.
Even turbonerds literally think its all CGI.
>>66447053
Fury Road had better cars even if it wasnt as good.
Why was Max's voice so weird?
>>66447086
Road warrior was like 1982 those cars were the hottest cars in australia for there day
>>66447188
he was a big max
>>66447196
still if we get a mad max 5+ it would be a miracle but i doubt it will ever top Furys cars
Fuck nothing will probably ever top Furys cars
>>66447022
Where are the cars now?
They should auction them off.
Shit movie
Starwars VII is superior
>>66447188
Road warrior or fury road ?
Road warrior was dubbed with american voices for america
another piece of trivia mad max 1 was the guiness book of records holder for highest grossing movie on the lowest budget til blair witch project
the bongo van that gets T boned by the yellow xb interceptor was george miller personal car
>>66447242
5 if it happens will be furiosa as miller stated
>>66447295
fury road
Shit meme movie
>>66447245
I know that when road warrior was made most of the cars were owned and driven by the owner who were from local speedway tracks
The XB that got blown up and the red F truck sat in coober pedy for years til some people looted anything of value of them
The gloss black interceptor was in a rock and roll cafe
i have no idea what happened with the fury road cars but giga horse there was about 5 of them i think some got buried in the desert in sierra leone when production was started there years ago
I got an offer to go to sydney and work on a movie set pieces but never got told what it was for and the budget was not that great so i blew it off and went to do season 2 of marco polo in singapore
Turns out the one i blew off was doing hydro forming of sheet metal for fury road
>>66447245
>>66447420
IIRC mostif not allof the Fury Road cars were destroyed and left in Namibia
