I remember season 5 finale, the first 5 minutes with Jacob and his brother, I didn't understand what the fuck is going on, then suddenly it clicked, that was probably the best scene of the entire show. I adored Lost until it lost (pun intended) its way around the 5th season.
I seriously just got fatigued with it. It was like eating a huge dinner and the waiter just keeps putting down bland food for you to chomp on, when all you want is the meat.
Basically, there was just a lot of padding and you could feel it just dropping off in quality.
I really wanted to relive the fun of the first few seasons of Lost, so I tried rewatching it recently, but knowing the show is littered with red herrings and dead-ends makes it impossible to enjoy a second time around.
What I enjoyed most was trying to decipher/unpack things with friends -- drunkenly giving our theories.
Knowing it was all just a meandering mess that led nowhere and was deliberately padded-out due to a writers' strike, means it's just a tragic mess of a show.

Season 2 is below Season 6 because while the hatch/Henry Gale plotline was mindblowing, literally half the season is spent on the tail section and every one of them is dead by the time the season ends.
