I really hate the trend of NuWho companions. Martha had the only decent ending, until she was brought back for the small bit that shows her ditching her usefulness as a medical Doctor for Torchwood and UNIT and becoming a Sontaran hunter and marrying the only other black character.
Yes the Doctor cares for his companions, but he shouldn't get all emo when someone leaves. 11 literally gave up everything he had been doing since he first ran away with Susan because two of his companions got stuck back in time and lived a long happy life without him. Then 12 finally gets back to Gallifrey, and instead of doing anything about returning them to their proper place he wastes a regeneration of someone that was helping him to save someone who already died. Also completely forgetting the fact they wanted the Hybrid for some sinister reason (presumably, given the fact they locked away and threatened the man that saved them all from death for a few billion years) and just assumes he's in the clear because he personally didn't give them the information he had.
He just needs to move on and get over it like he had been doing for his first thousand years of life.

It is what happened, and I never said she wasn't going to die. The Doctor said in the episode the reason he needs to remove himself from her memory is to hide her from the Time Lords. His intent was to prolong her life, not to prevent her death.
