What do you think of Psych?

Actually watched it for the first time last night with a few friends. Seems very comfy, but forgettable. Great background noise for doing something else though. I normally detest crimeshit, I think garbage like CSI, NCIS, and Criminal Minds is absolutely unwatchable filth, but I thought psych was cute.

needs more of maggie lawson's feet 2bh pham
>>
Monk was better.
>>
>>64699955
When I first started watching it, I found it very comfy and enjoyable. As the seasons progress, it actually shows a lot of heart as well, kinda like Scrubs. It's one of my favourite shows
>>
Do the flashbacks ever stop? I'm really enjoying the banter, but fucking hell the kid bits are excruciating.
>>
>>64700191
I actually don't mind them.
>>
I feel like Psych would be a 10/10 show if it was actually, you know, funny?

I always felt like it was stuck in this limbo of being too lukewarm humour wise to find funny and too goofy to take seriously. I know the mentalist pretty much ripped it off but I think Psych would have benefited from Shaun running some elaborate, Patrick Jane type scams and pranks on people to trick them instead of 'banter, banter, pop culture reference, tacked on 'I'm having vision' moment', case solved. '

Maybe I was just expecting too much? I really like it premise wise but it just feels like wasted potential to me. I don't mind watching it occasionally though.

>that based Dual Spires episode
>it even has Julee Cruise singing the theme song
>>
I saw a few episodes. Does it have an overarching plot with character development and love interests and new characters or is it really just case of the weak?
>>
I loved it, one of my top 10 shows ever. We need more comedy shows that still have Scooby-Doo like mysteries in them.

Bargain bin generic, boring television for middle aged suburban women like everything else USA has ever come out with.

If anything USA is frat house-core

It slowly sort of starts getting some character arcs, though they dont really last long at all. Some of the better changes were;

Lassiter goes from uptight, no-nonsense hardass to a more enjoyable and even sometimes funny hardass post season 1

And then eventually the show sort of has an Arc with Sean's love life. But thats really it from what ive seen. (Im in mid season 5 right now)

I really enjoy the show, mostly because Sean and Gus have some ridiculously good on -screen chemistry.

Is a Euorpean or Australian trying to shit on American television?
>>
>>64700191
it's like two minutes in the very beginning, calm down. hell, that segment is probably shorter than the long-form theme intro

No, just an American shitting on shit television.

I don't understand how you people enjoy anything that plays it as safe and is as soulless as USA shows.

Everything doesn't have to be cutting edge.
>>
>>64700815
The funniest parts are usually Gus being retarded, when it shouldn't be. I still like this show a lot.

Is this what retards actually believe?
>>64701496
It doesn't have to be cutting edge but it doesn't have to be aggressively middle of the road, either.

If USA was music it would play exclusively in elevators and dentist lobbies.

>mfw we never got that Psych/Monk crossover special
>they even mention him in the finale
>>
Great show sad it's gone.
I will say that the 2 last seasons were a little gimmicky and repetitive. But that's what happens to all sitcoms.

This and Chuck were my jam.
>>
>>64701573
A lot of American TV is absolute trash, the majority, even, but you'd have to be an America hater to not see the amount of good stuff far exceeds what anyone else has to offer.
>>
>>64701573
>It doesn't have to be cutting edge but it doesn't have to be aggressively middle of the road, either.
I'll agree with you there. I wrote this anyway >>64700815

So this is like live action jimmy neutron?
>>
>>64701605
I'm talking about the network that aired Psych, not the country.
>>
>>64699955
I have difficulty watching it after a shitty breakup I had nearly 4 years ago.

Maybe I should just watch it and cut that demon out.
>>
>>64701647
Oh, well this conversation was a big waste of time.
>>
>tfw no more Monk/Psych Fridays
>>
i thought it was pretty nice, i personally like tv shows you can get in the middle of and dont feel that you missed anything
seinfeld, ncis (all 3), stargate sg1 and atlantis, psych and chuck are only a few of the ones i like
>>
>>64701870
>i personally like tv shows you can get in the middle of and dont feel that you missed anything
>seinfeld
You literally wouldn't get half the jokes if you just jumped into the middle of an episode of Seinfield. It's all set up and payoff.
>>
>>64701968
yea but it isnt like if you missed the first 5 minutes you would have no fucking idea whats going on like in the 4400 for example
atleast there are some jokes and general theme you can enjoy even if you missed those first 5 minutes
>>
>>64701581
They had a crossover commercial. You should google it.
>>
>>64702161
Yeah, I know. But that just makes you want a full special more.
>>
I liked Psych.
>>
>>64699955
It's good, but it gets old. Watching a few episodes is good but I don't feel it had much staying power
