Screen door effect will also be a problem until VR adopts 4K. And the processing/gpu power for that won't be reachable for average consumers for years.

3DTV failed ... nobody likes wearing glasses.

Blu-Ray failed .... DVD is still the dominant physical format as the average Joe cant see the difference or doesnt even care.

4k TV = Failed ... too expensive, no actual 4k content. 8k is already here.
