>Ootp - 8/10
I literally /dropped/ the franchise after that one, really poorly excecuted
and PoA was also pretty shitty, that mexican driector can't into continuity
>>
>>64613011
Sounds like you are autistic they are both great. Ootp is underrated
>>
>If you watch PoA and then watch OotP, you will easily see the difference between the best and worst in the series. PoA comes closest to capturing the spiritual nature in all of us, through which we discover a magical external world. OotP is shot the exact opposite. Characters are stiff boards spending most of their time staring off into the background. I think they are intentionally kept motionless and dead as a way of diverting our attention to what's supposed to be thus wondrous external magical world. But he completely missed the point. The magic is within. Yates fucked up.

but luna =D
>>

Actually Yates was allowed to bring a different style bc of the critical success of POA. Ootp and DH1 have Brazil undertones. Yates is just extremely British

Do people seriously like the HP movies? Have they never read the books? The first 6 movies are abortions/butcher the shit outta the books, only deathly hallows is tolerable. Though desu I really don't care for HP now that I've seen/read a ridiculous amount of stuff significantly better.

Not at all, Dylan. Harry Potter was easily one of the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the seriesüf only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but itüfs certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books are g-g-good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King

Which one should I watch right now?

Still good for pegging Hermione.

Actually 6 and 8 are really good, next best after 3, but that's largely due to Radcliffe's charm and 8 was the CGI fest we all wanted with a final 40 minutes that delivered it all. But still, that fifth book and had so much potential and I just hate the movie Yate's came up with. Even Dumbledore Voldy sucked. It was just bland "super" magic, not like the book duel which had the transfigured statues and apparating allowing them to actually duel with their words, not just their wands. Fuck Yates

I like 6 and 7 a lot I wasn't impressed that much with 8 but I'll give it a rewatch

It's a children's book and the imagery serves to set psychological anchors for being more interesting.

Wouldn't expect a copy-pasta to have any insight though.

I like the based Schopenhauer quote, but no, my pleb shit is staying right here.

>assuming I don't realize that Harry Potter isn't as great as my nostalgia and emotional attachment to it makes me think
I know this and don't give a single fuck, still love it. High art and low art both have their place, fuck off with your condescending bullshit
