I just finished watching The Neverending Story for the first time. What does /tv/ think of it?
>>64566637
I liked it as a child and hated part 2 and 3, don't bother with them, what did you think of it OP?
>>64566637
I was so high when I saw this.
It's a real fucking good movie to watch high.
>>64566637
>>64566637
The nightmares are real.
>>64566637
I really liked it as a kid now I watch it and wonder how 3D effects ever became the go to look for movies.
I always felt bad for the zapped silver knight.
I never gave two fucks on the horse.
I'll let you know when I finish it.
>mfw 31 years, 5 months, 17 days and counting...
>>64566637
saw it when I was 12 and it seemed like it was made for 5 year olds
i don't think it holds up very well
probably needed some jim henson to still look great today
>>64566671
I thought 2 was ok.
3 is legitimately one of the worst films ever made. Not even exaggerating.
>tfw had a crush on Atreyu before I learned that gender was binary and homosexuality was stigmatised by heteronormative social constructs
now I just suppress my feelings and everything's great!
>>64566637
>finished watching
>Neverending Story

>>64566637
How can you finish watching a story that never ends?
Checkmate.

It was like an acid trip on screen(i dont do drugs tho, just saying). Really enjoyed the direction as weird a thing it is to say, but the handling of elements and themes was great by being straightforward and effective. Hated the shitty framing device even though its kind of the point of the movie. Overall it had a really dark whimsical aesthetic which you don't really see in movies nowadays, I guess people would find the Dali-esque elements too grotesque/weird. But the few bits of violence that serves a purpose in the story gave it a groundedness despite the goofy fantasy elements which was cool to see. Good soundtrack too, using synth for a fantasy setting is a very interesting choice to me.
>>64566835
His monologue at the end was really cool. I like how he was built up throughout the movie too.
>>64567614
as someone who loves synth I like that element alot, have you seen labyrnth or the dark crystal? I would say they have similarities but I haven't seen any of them in a while.
labyrinth has a great instrumental soundtrack. anything done by Tangerine Dream is also goat
>>64567766
Labyrinth not at all. The Dark Crystal is maybe a little similar.
>>64567841
like I said, I haven't seen any of them in a while and puppets are most likely merging in my head and turning into one big conjoined Henson film
>>64567827
afraid to admit I only really remeber the song about the babe.
>>64567766
I was expecting some kind of Matrix sci-fi twist because of the music. I saw the dark crystal a while ago and don't remember liking it, t tried too hard to be star wars. wasn't a fan of the ugly puppets either.
>>64566772
I wonder what /pols/ qt looks like today
>>64567072
>>64567978
that would have been pretty cool and I definetly see where you are coming from when it comes to trying to be like starwars, it was by no means a bad film thou
>>64566835
>>64566637
>still looks better than 99% of CGI
>>64568131
I have just the image to back up your claim
>>64566637
I fucking love this movie. Trippy as shit.
It gave me nightmares.
>>64568799

But the dragon looks cool and fluffy.
>>64569119
What the fuck? There's a Neverending Story 3? This shit is in it? What the fuck have they done?
>>64569312
Jack Black was the villain...
>>64569312
Stop posting and go watch never ending story 3 fucking now.
>>64569119
NEVERMIND
>>64569312
Has nothing to do with the original message of the first movie. It's basically "hey do you remember x and y and z in the first 2 movies? Now you get to see it in the wacky 90's!"
Also a redesigned luck dragon.
>>64569591
JUST
My favorite movie when I was a kid. Saw it for the first time in like 15 years not too long ago and it was still great.
>>64569591
it boggles the mind how they made it look worse, surely that takes more effort?
Classic of my childhood.
>>64569119
DELETE THIS
The movie of my childhood, and it has aged very well. I feel sorry for the cgi generation.
>>64569865
theyre gonna reboot it into a trilogyyou just know

Krampus (1015)
it happened and we let it happen
Jack Black was in the third one before he became famous.
>>64569262
Yeah i never saw a fluffy dragon before. It's design was pretty cool.
>>64571403
I used to be a jack black fan back when he was just the random extra in every other movie. Just so I could be like
>Oh shit... that's jack black.
Who?
>You know, the "Are you ready to ROCK!" guy in Cable guy?
Nigger you're weird
Fucking ironically liking a meme actor before it was cool.I feel like an asshole.
>>64567940
>I only really remeber the song about the babe.
What babe?
>>64571499
The babe with the power
>>64566772
She looks a bit like Elizabeth Olsen
>>64571499
The babe with the power.

>>64568131
Sad thing is people really believe 80's puppets look better than modern computer imagery.
People younger than 40 talk like this. Ask an adult who grew up in the 50's or 60's how modern technology looks.
>>64572149
>Sad thing is people really believe 80's puppets look better than modern computer imagery.
The difference is that it is an actual thing, in frame, that can be reacted to.
It's not a tennis ball on a stick.
>>64572218
That's the difference between a good and a shit actor
>>64572382
or a shit director, I think it all depends on the context of the CGI, sometimes it just feels really pointless to even use it
>>64572149
Found the CGI artist.
>>64568131
Do you know what confirmation bias is?
>>64571364
>still being human
Not bad for a childactress. Speaks in her favour.
>>64572504
When your mom confirms her bias for BBC?
>>64572504
When you find out you're dad really isn't your dad?
>>64566637
I recently watched it for the first time too. I fucking loved it, blamed my parents for not showing it to me as a kid.
>>64572658
funny, my dad made me watch it when I was a kid
>>64572744
I'm gonna force my future kids to watch it, then do look at them at them like this when they enter the swamp
>>64572834
you evil basterd
>>64572218
Also actually captured by the camera. So the lighting and everything is real and not added in later.
>>64572149
I can appreciate both but yes, cgi is at the point now where we can objectively say it's better than puppets. Anyone who disagrees is basically blinded by nostalgia.
>>64573372
>cg characters reacting to cg characters
JDIMSA
>>64573076
The scene HDR is captured by cameras and projected onto the 3d models to light them as if they were real. Same difference.
>>64573372
That looks like complete shit. Eyes look super fake too. End your life.
>>64567614
You should watch the us version of legend if you like awesome synth music in a fantasy setting.
Tangerine dream>>>gerry sheckelsmith.
>>64566835
That thing scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.
>>64573745
Are you one of those rebel teenagers that hate new music and religion?
